i tried that, and about 1/3 of the way through the Ai decided it was time to build a construction node in the middle of its base... next to 2 spheres.... ouch :borg: :borg:

I don't even try to capture builders in MP games.

Still, against AI players, I make a point of capturing a builder of every faction.

So I know I need 5-6 Galaxies (or 3-4 Descents) to capture a Borg builder, or 16 Vutpa's (damn the 200 crew complement, pitiful for a troopship), two Tavaras and a lot of time and two Dreads and a little luck with the Dominion. The Dom frigates work well, too.

Killing life support works too I find (for Klingons and Dominion at least, where you get such weaponry).

I've captured a few builders in MP before, but it depends on how badly I want that mixed technology :D

Capturing a builder from a Borg Human player (does anyone see a contradiction in there?) is a moot point. It takes so long that the only thing you actually do is to give him several unshielded targets. Tasty unshielded targets.

Dominion builders are also a chore, but usually the reward is worth it. I suspect though that a Human Dominion player would take exception to that.

To capture a borg builder with the rommies or klingons is easier than that.  Find the ship you have with the highest crew-count.  Gather them up, cloak, and fly over to the constructor.  Start beaming.  Remember, you can beam while cloaked, and since the constructor has no shields, unless you get noticed (against a human) you can do it without any risk at all.

Considerering the time it'll take, even with a big fleet (3 people per transport) there is a very big chance that the player will conviniently choose to use that Assembler at some point.

hey, whats up with the transporter numbers?

you beam 5 and only 3 make it?

Bones was right!

screw the transporter, i'll take a shuttle

:borg: We have found a flaw in our adaption of no energy-field protection from transporters. We will adapt under Optec's permission.  :borg:

I agree. Many of the Federation and Klingon ships need a boost in crew compliment. The Dominion Assault transport dominates in this department. In fact, I sent an email to Optec concerning this matter.

I will post a new topic in the game balancing forum at a later date, but for starters the Galaxy Class should get a crew of 500, Nebula 350, Vor'Cha 225, Lupset 250, Vupta 400+.

Moreover, you don't even need to cloak to capture the constructors. In some cases, they just sit there in AI games and let you beam over troops at your heart's content.

Yeah, the Borg AI has the habit of sending Assemblers to all moon pairs to build a resource processing node, so locating one is moderately easy. The problem is the time it takes to capture it.

Romulans, Klingons and Federation tend to keep a tighter leash on their builders, usually keeping them in shooting range of the starbase. Dominion do so too, but as any miner can become a builder, it's also moderately easy to capture one.
