Leahval Veteran Ability is wonderful. +40% Shield Strength.
There are a few other great ones, like the Negh'Var's Warship Cannons, and the K'vort getting the power of a battleship, and the K'beatq getting -40% damage taken and a -15% damage from torps. I still haven't gotten a K'tinga to Veteran, but I'm trying in hopes that they have a cool ability.

My favorite vetern ability is "Everything Dies". Everything Dies is the name I made up for the Dreadnought's vetern ability, because I forget what the name on the tool tip is, and I think my name is better and more descriptive of its function.
Of course, to get an ability like Everything Dies, you have to get a Vetern Dreadnought, which costs 23 vetern points out of a maximum of 25.

yeah like the singularity of the Dread. Fantastic. Every structure dies.
not ships tho... ships are barely phased. tried it against norexans, and they brushed it off. tried it against their base, and they were all boom.

I got the K'tinga and B'rel to Vet. K'tinga gets the 40% damage reduction just like it's decendant. The B'rel's disruptors double their fire rate. Both nice.

Ambassador
30% less Damage taken from beamweapons
15 or 20% (not shure i think 20) less damage taken from pulseweapons
10% from torpedos
With 68 defence she will take a lot of hits.

Galaxy, Akira and Steamrunner (another name, same ability)
Shieldbraking torpedo (2 Staeamrunners aktivate the triloader, one starbase)
But I think the Galaxy and Akira are bugged.
Galaxy won't fire 3 of them and an Akira don't fire its exploding torpedo.
Even worst, I think the mixed tech Akira just fires 1 torpedo.
Saber
Type XIV Phaser (hope its the right number)
She will fire faster an does a lot of damage
Is there a thread somewhere with all the level 5 abilitys and maybe one where all the veteranabilitys are listet?

I had a veteran Tavara, it costs 18 slots and becomes Warbird Matriarch, which means it gets ALL special weapons of ANY Warbird Class you have researched, quite nasty.
The Steamrunner is just plain evil on veteran, it ignores shield.

Exelsior (don't know the name)
+300 special energy (good for fiering torpedos)
Miranda and Excelsior 2
supirior ECM
Torps and I think Pulseweapons will hit less often.
Descent
The warpin vessel with the double layer shield, right? I am not good in remembering Names

Battle Tested Disign or Technology (not shure)
+10 to all attributes and 60% reduced cooldown for its spezial ability.
Great supportvessel

And the Steamrunner not only ignore shields, it does more damage. One hit at a Rihenn and it has below 10 HP.

Defiant gets a plasma coil i think...not sure the name but it will ocasionally fire additional pulses and the defiant also gains double damage against destroyers.

I like the tavara and the akira veteran specials. Also the planax at veteran status has pretty nice stats and gets the same ability as the defiant (something something collider is what it called). The reason that like the akira better than the other ships with the same specials is because at veteran level the torps do area damage and ignore shields.

Norexan Veteran Ability. Oh. My. God. It is Elvis. The King. So beautiful that the world may weep.
The Dagger Directive. Love it, hug it, cradle it. It is your friend.

Dagger Doctrine: The rate of fire increase when opening fire is doubled, lasts twice as long and only takes 10 seconds to refresh
Awesome huh
