Not at all. I've actually been hoping for a while now to make pics for the guide. At last, SUCCESS!!!

Wow, that intrepid shot is great.  Did you grab most these while playing, or observing a game?

Got all of these playing instant action games. Both games took a bitch of a long time to do, so I figured "Hey, why not grab some screens for the hell of it?" Got a few more below, but I kinda get the feeling they won't be as popular as that Descent  :sweatdrop:

That Excelsior shot is awesome.  :woot:

If the models were bigger (and therefore better) it would be wallpaper worthy. Which is not to say the devs make bad models, they're just small and so they end up being jagged and fuzzy. ( :crybaby: )

Well, going through the .odf files, it looks like the Devs don't use the ScaleSOD function on the models. Leads me to believe that they build all their models to be as scaled as possible when they are released as a finished product. The textures fit just right with the sizes anyway. Don't think I've seen any bits or pieces that would be out of scale, like windows for instance

it has to do with the poly reduction.  it removes alot of the smoothness of the ships because the a2 engin can't handle high level graphics. :( like circles become hexagons, ect it just takes away all the extra faces.  you don't normally notice it, but it does effect them when you look up close.

Actually ISS, I thought they were all real good

I don't think that's entirely true. I've got good ol' DJ Curtis' Galaxy-Class for my special A2, and its got some of the highest polys and textures out there. In-game, I don't see any degredation in quality. Look for yourself in the screens below

Double post due to size constraints

I think the point was not that there aren't high poly models because there certainly are some, k_merse's convert of DJ Curtis' Century Class is also extremely high poly. But when you start getting many high poly models on the playing field the game will slow to a crawl and may eventually crash. Then there's also the issue of texture details; the clearer you want the details and the more you want to add, the higher the texture resolution has to be. k_merse's high poly Century textures are each 4 MBs. The devs are obviously trying to keep the game size down (the texture folder is current about 914 MBs) and are trying to keep it playable on older systems since high res textures need better graphics to run smoothly.

It is a shame though. The devs should release a high poly/high res texture ship pack which overwrites the stock versions for those of us who have the juice to use them.

Believe me, I know the experience of crashing because of too many high poly or textured ships. Thankfully, this new computer came around.  :D And at 4MB apiece, those textures are pretty big, but my Galaxy's textures are bout 16 MB each   Certainly a good thing the Devs care about those who don't have exceptional computers. Though you're right, it would be great if they released a high poly/texture pack for those who can run it  :D

To be honest, I'm not sure if it has much to do with the computer running it - I tried some really high poly stuff on a friends quad core super souped up super-de-dooper... and it lagged
