Because you need a differently named SOD to use different textures right? Which means a different ODF too. And I don't think you can use normal build buttons to randomly choose from a list.

Just copy the sprite entry and change the odf name to the new one. The buttons are so small that there won't be any difference between one with a name and one without, so the same button works well.
That works best if both ships use the same textures, just one with a name.

I think you misunderstand me. I don't care about the build button picture.
But surely to have the right name and registry on every ship, you would need a need set of textures/odfs and sods for each one (granted they would be duplicates, but I don't see a way around). This is why I suggested only for warp-in ships, as they are not limited by one odf for each class.

Not one odf per Class? But they do use one...
Why did you bring up thre buttons if your not bothered about the buttons?

Yes they use one at the moment, but they are capable of using more than one. Individual build buttons aren't.
But if you wanted a different registry for each ship name I guess that is how you would have to do it, unless there was a way to make it work the same way as legacy.

Yep, which would take at least as much work as making them all individual ships.

I don't quite understand that part; does it mean you can't use the same button for multiple ships?

That's what I thought. Am I wrong? Build buttons are linked to odfs.

The entries in the sprite file determines what button is used.
If you added a second Galaxy, just copy the right entry and change the odf name. Same button used for different ships, the same way you use the same wireframe for multiple ships.

I know that, I'm not talking about the design of the button, I'm talking about the physical button you click on in the shipyard. I don't want 50 buttons for one ship just to have different names.

It would be cool if the emitters on the ships could be changed so one displayed the registry.

Let me put up a possible solution. There would be this certain thing you put in on a specific graphic channel for the textures that would say "Insert here". Then there would be an spr file for registeries that would define which goes where. Plus there would be a thing that says "refer to odf" for names.
