"Sir, the Tuesday Yards have been destroyed!"
"Great! Now we'll never get those upgrades!"
Honestly, a true Dread for Fed would have around 200 Defense and 30 Offense, not 200 Offense and 30 Defense.

The Federation are not going to sacrifice offensive power for a good defence, they balance their ships.

Been a long time since I saw this episode, but the ship wasn't even real. It was a rumour, an exaggeration, to scare the people. It does no way mean that the ship was even POSSIBLE (that's why it was so scary for the victims, it's unbelievable power). So there is no way the Feds would make a real ship based on that story. It's like the US Navy turning an aircraft carrier into a Star Destroyer, because they saw it at the cinema. Militaries do not copy stuff from fiction/stories.

It would likely be possible to build a ship with that kind of weapons array...if it was about 6x the size with a Borg Cube's Warp Core!
The only people who would ever try to build an Intrepid like that one would be the Terrans. Atlantis, they didn't make the ship like that to scare people, they were heavily biased against Voyager (as history tends to distort over time) and were working with an extreamly small amount of information.

"Everyone, grab as many stones as you can find, and report to the forward airlock!"
In retrospect: Stones on a starship? Sure, why not.

I'd think phasers would fit better.
"Everyone, grab a nearby phaser rifle, a space suit, and head out the nearest airlock! once in space, connect to the bridge for targeting orders..."

Stones would work pretty well if not for the main deflector

Then I guess we know our first target.

While this version of an Intrepid is a bit much there's nothing wrong with the concept. Most Fed ships are not built as warships but exploration and science vessels (Intrepids and Galaxies come to mind right away.) If one were to remove all the excess and unnecessary stuff from these ships imagine what you could do with it.
Now, that's all well and good for the movies and TV shows but in the FO universe its wartime. I don't think the Feds would be putting all that stuff in these ships and are actually building real warships. I'd postulate that the Intrepid that we're using in the game is already as close as you can get to the "Warship" Intrepid.

Maybe it could be a mixed tech vet.

What about a mix-tech version similar to the upgrades in the final Voyager episode.
(a tri-phasic torpedo and armour?)
I know these upgrades were from the future but they are in reponse to Borg tech.

I thought I read/saw somewhere that S31 had a blacked out Galaxy class with different markings.... in addition to heavily modified excelsiors like the lakota which were geared for spec ops. So it makes sense they would have a tricked out Intrepid. Maybe just wishful thinking
