Warp-Out Ability

Why would you assume thats its dirty work there are times when the federation would be outgunned and they could use some backup and i would not assume that all mercs are killers the united states hires a form of mercenarys all the time.

To equate the United States of America (A Country) and The United Federation of Planets ( A Collection of Planetary Allegiances) is pretty ridiculous.

The planetary governments can make their own laws and keep their own military, but they all agree to follow certain laws, elect a shared leader, and anybody can serve in a shared military (Starfleet) that takes orders from a group of planetary representatives. That's almost identical to the original concept for the United States; the US citizens have simply become more homogeneous as time went by so maybe it's not so ridiculous.

i have begun working on (internally) separating the warp-in(/out) feature from the replaceweapon and polished it so a separate odf for the warping ship won't be necessary as soon as this rewrite is done.
warp-out could be working through a separate weapon then. if you have some input on what such a 'weapon' could/should be able to do...please go ahead :)

If I understand your statement correctly (emphasis on if  :sweatdrop: ), setting a timer (do I auto warp out immediately, in 10 seconds, in 5 minutes, or does a button have to be pushed to manually warp...) and an animation would be cool, distance (aka, warp for 1000 units, warp off the map) and type of warp (aka, is it a straight line or curved etc), targetable or not, cost to warp (such that you have to bribe the pirate ship to go away )...

(combo of Megadroid's ideas and mine woot)

EDIT: delay to warp - do I take a few seconds to charge my engines before I warp (and become unmoveable in the meantime or what not)
