Admiral T'Var D. Bassia wrote:umm its cannon that Galaxies can carry Runabouts the pilot episode of DS-9 has the E-D dropping off runabouts to the station. The big shuttle bay on the saucer section has plenty of room for runabouts

hell the runabouts are only 23 meters long and it looks like about 10 meters wide and around 6-7 tall (estimating the height and width)

One of the things that I wish was in Star Trek Armada II was the ability for all ships to have a compliment of at least 2 -3 shuttle crafts, (More for the bigger ships like the Galaxy-class (Galaxy-class X-Refit) and the Sovereign-class, and for those bigger ships to also carry a few Runabouts). Of course scout-ships wouldn't have any shuttles and this concept would/should be applied to all races except the Borg and Species 8472.

It would also be cool and a great idea if these ships that were carrying these crafts had a way to launch them, not just to attack but also to scout. If this could be done a button almost like the transporter button would be a perfect way to activate such an effect.

IDEA!!!!  What if federation bases have runabouts that travel randomly to different facilities?  Meaning every few minutes, a runabout would travel to your expansion and back.  The federation gets improved scouting inside their territory, but if they try to build structures sneakily the runabout traffic will give away their location.[quote]

I actually like this idea too, and it would be great if it too could be incorporated into regular Star Trek Armada II. If this can be done, it would give a few good additions to the stock campaign and also juice up my Fourth Campaign idea. Plus it would be great for Instant Action games as well.

Nice, I mean GREAT Idea! :innocent:  B) :D

Jet i think the point is this would be a unique idea to the federation, one thing about fleetops is that the races try to be unique in there own way.

Basically what you said is that all ships in every race, cept borg and species weirdos, should have shuttles that come out and fight and such?  then all races will soon be getting a shortage of shuttles as they will all get blown up.

Now what boggz is suggesting here, is what i think a unique and quite interesting idea, this would be a compliment of runabouts for a vet galaxy to increase the Los, which is an interesting concept.  Personally i feel like if these two runabout could be giving an active targeting like the brels, that would be really cool.

Now the other idea that was suggested about runabouts, going to and fro outposts, that is also pretty cool, almost like they are supplying the outposts, this could be cool, however i think the best way to implement this would be to have a special type out outpost, that the shutles go to, so that they have set destinations, and require somthing special built to be activated, this could be kinda cool tho, kinda like border patrol.

FO used to have shuttles flying around the base, before they replaced every one of them with Worker bees. Even bases that don't build ships. I'd rather have that back before thinking about special versions of it.

Didn't this cause problems with lower end machines?

i like the idea of runabouts as a special upgrade for starbase, to give long sensor range.

i dont like the idea of runabout for galaxy really. the ent d did carry them, but only as cargo. i think it should be unique for the starbase.

i also like the expansion runabout idea, maybe that could be an upgrade for the mining station.
