I was wondering if making this long prism a vertically structured ship might help with pathing problems. On the patched version of Armada 1 Alliances the freighter was a vertical structure. I think the case is also similar with A2 Future wars. Or is that in some other mod?

the mod was called 'alliances'

bump

me want! D:

also could borg mining ship have a build button to build their station instead of randomly placing it near the mining ship?? since sometimes the station gets placed in odd places even if you micro it

Yes vertical Borg miners would help a lot and a build button for placing the mining station would fix a ton of the issues with Borg mining.

I'm sure the Devs haven't forgotten about this, so I bet there's a solution in store. Personally I like the horizontal miners, and really, all miners have pathing problems - not just the Borg ones  :sweatdrop:

i thought dev's said " if more people post on the topic about the same thing the higher the priority is for us to do this or that"

or something like that...  :woot:

Hmm that does sound familiar...

I really do not like the current Borg miner.. A vertical miner however would be really cool.

idk. but it needs to be changed, it gets stuck easily, just make more use of the z axis like yandonman said

Interesting: I haven't had it get stuck or drop a mining node incorrectly in over 4 patches...

Dom, node dropping is still kind of bad...though it is better than before.  I will say, it gets stuck quite often in cramped spaces.  I was playing Optimize the other day and I actually lost because I couldn't get enough tritanium.  Here, both miners were full, bouncing against my Recycling Center. lol

as you may have seen in yandons video of me vs dircome, and the next video of me vs loki, they get stuck

Well, that's why you wait till you reach a certain angle to drop the node. Even if you don't, most of the time it still works. :) I'm sure the issue will be rectified eventually either way.

The way I see it, a vertical miner would be less affected by pathing issues. Though I do like the idea of the miner building it... I think it is not possible to have a constructor rig and a freighter coded together. :(

Oh wait, here is an alternative, have the Dodecahedron make it. :woot: It would be an armed mining station made from the dodecahedron! And what is also nice is that you can also collapse it in case you want it moved to make room for more construction. ;)

What sort of angle should it be dropped at?

Also, on a pathing related note, has anyone noticed that if you select a mining vessel just after its built and assign it to a moon to mine, it goes very slow and tries to move through the starbase?
