@Seer: if it is not going to be built in a system where the H E L L is it gonna be built?

Cpt Ryan, my point was not where the hub is built but for what it is used in the game. Of course you have to build it somewhere and somewhere has to be a system since you could hardy build it elsewhere.
But don't you agree that the purpose of the transwarp-hub is to travel large distances and not just from Planet A to Planet B (or here point A and point B ) within the same system? That's what the hub does in FO and that's what does not make sense until the Borg declare the hub as a weapon to rush their opponents bases with it. Though it would still be a very expensive and ineffecienty measure to fight your enemy via the hub. (Why not simply shoot everything down or assimilate it? - Cheaper and faster to do as you don't have to waste credits and time until you have the hub.) But if one regards the hub as a weapon, then it would make sense even inside a system. It would not be efficient but at least effective.
Short: I don't bother the option to build the hub, I'm just querying its purpose as you operate in only one system with it.

FFS, i know what its used for in trek, but since you can only have a single system per map, it has to be miniturized. otherwise the borg have no so called special building. before you suggest a massive cube to replace it, all this and more has already been discussed, and it has been agreed that the hub is staying. (that and the iron rule of optec & Doca say they wanna keep it) so just stop nit-picking.
the one in Voyager was described as unarmed.... probably why there were loads of borg "ships" nearby protecting it.But if one regards the hub as a weapon, then it would make sense even inside a system.

I tend to not agree with Ryan on a wide variety of topics, such as his oppinion on the Breen, but in this case he is utterly correct. Star Trek Fleet Operations is not Star Wars Empire at War. We only ever get to fight in one sector at once, and then the Transwarp Hub functions perfectly, as I see it, you send a fleet to the enemy base and wipe them out, and that is totally fair, as the borg have to take their sweet time building ships, due to their expense and tend to be the quickest to fall to the good old BoP Rush. I think if you allow a borg player to amass those resources, and build up a fleet and a hub, you deserve to get base raped.
BIG CUBE IS THE STUPIDEST IDEA
In my honest oppinion, it has good points and bad, but it's just dumb, If you're interested in giant fleet killing cubes, check out Stock A2. Or mod it into Flops yourself?

and i totally disagree with you.. In the star trek universe, the borg have existed for how many hundreds of years.. in that time, they have only built 5 transwarp hubs.. now. does it seem logical or reasonable that they should be able to build one in any system to jump half a system to crush opposing forces? not really.. and to them, it would be a waste of major resources when they can send there fleets in and crush them easilly by normal impulse power. Now am i saying the hub should be taken out? No, i'm just saying it doesn't sound like the borg to do such a thing, and am querying why.
As for the 'big cube'. The borg take a basic principle, adapt it to their collective, and grow on that one principle, forming many more. for example : The idea of working together, they've transformed this into a whole new meening, of being one being so to speak. They've also taken logic to a further step, in an advanced logic of distribution of resources. They also have combined these two into one, which is the logic of using resources at the most minimum cost for the most highest efficiency for the collective. Now, after this review, does it sound reasonable that they should take the basic shape of the cube, create a ship out of it, and then create a bigger cube out of those cubes when they need to? Absolutely.

Well incase you haven't realized there are map sized limitations.
We're fighting skirmishes in one sector!
We're not playing Dynaverse SFC 3, we odn't have a universe to draw from.
Do you want a cube that is the size of a whole map?
Not even the borg would be stupid enough to deal with the pathing errors Fusion cubes give them in Armada 2.
I deem it totally plausible that the borg would use their resources to warp into the middle of your base, instead of throw themselves at your turret wall.
I like the scout-fusion cube, that was pretty cool, because it had a decent scale on it!
I don't want a real sized cube, because we'd need massive maps, to utilize such a thing to it's true ability.

So if there is that golden the-hub-stays-in-rule there's no need to discuss whether it should be taken out or not. I didn't know about that. But as Ryan isn't telling nonsense we can stop the in-out-discussion.
My points were simple theory about how borgy and 'realistic' the use of a transwarp-hub inside a system is. For the gameplay though it's okay and if I was not absolutely mistaken, everyone knows that I actually love the hub.
And just to clarify my position:
Loud and clear: NO! And I don't want to see it replacing even the Descent
(JOKE! - I have no problem with the Descent!) I don't like the mega-cube.
So please don't imply I do.
And as Rhaz already said: There are good arguments on both sides.
But as FO is a game and does not lay claim on transporting the Star Trek universe 1:1 into RTS, I would never doubt that the gameplay- and balance-arguments are outweighing.
