I love star trek and star wars equally, sometimes one gains an advantage over the other for a short time but it always comes back. Except for a cube and possibly spieces 8472, the death star could destroy all else. Cube could just throw some drones on and assimilate it and make it a SUPER FREAKIN DEATH STAR and spieces 8472 might have the firepower needed to take it out.

What? Power of what?

I believe he means the power output of the super laser cannon... I mean, what power does it take to blow a class M planet up? Hm? Any questions? And Episode VI showed that the laser can be fired at close range targets as well...

i've said it once and I will say it again;

perhaps thats the reason why star trek and star wars don't get mixed

Lasers in SW are not the same as LASER (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation) means for us. There is still some kind of plasma used in SW weapons, thus making the blasts some kind of particle beam (that's why the handguns are called "Blasters" instead of "Laserpistols").

The interior mechanisms of a tiny hold-out blaster, a blaster pistol, a large blaster rifle, and a turbolaser cannon are based on the same theories and principles. A squeeze of a trigger emits volatile blaster gas into a conversion chamber, where it is excited by energy from the weapon's power source. The agitated gas is then funneled through the actuating blaster module, where it is processed into an intense particle beam. A prismatic crystal focuses the beam, and passes it through a refinement chamber which "galvens" the beam into its final bolt.

In fact, you can't use all actual physical laws of our real world on SW as it is officially a "Fantasy Tale". That's also what makes comparing SW and ST senseless.

However, let me state some figurs about the DS:

The Death Star was 120 kilometers in diameter. Much of its interior space was devoted to systems required to maintain its massive superlaser and power plant. At the heart of the Death Star is a gigantic hypermatter reactor. Within this chamber burned a fusion reaction of prodigious proportions, fed by stellar fuel bottles lining its periphery.

[...]

Scattered across the Death Star's surface were thousands of weapons emplacements: a total of 10,000 turbolaser batteries, 2,500 laser cannons, 2,500 ion cannons and 768 tractor beam projectors. The station carried a crew of 265,675, plus 52,276 gunners, 607,360 troops, 25,984 stormtroopers, 42,782 ship support staff, and 167,216 pilots and support crew. The station also carried 7,200 starfighters, four strike cruisers, 3,600 assault shuttles, 1,400 AT-ATs, 1,400 AT-STs, 1,860 drop ships, and more.

... and about the DS II:

The second Death Star's size ballooned to 160 kilometers in diameter, larger than the original, and featured a superlaser of greater power. Not only could this prime weapon deliver a more devastating blast, but it could fire more often and with greater accuracy.

The second Death Star, if completed, would have featured over 30,000 turbolaser batteries, 7,500 laser cannons, 5,000 ion cannons and 768 tractor beams.

white had a good point the power out put would take out any shielding. now the thing is, Fed ships can move faster and shoot faster, also the Tie fighters would be like flys to the fed ships, they have no substansial threat. OH heres one for you, a ship with cloke could jsut fly to were the port was and then de cloke to fire for jsut a secound or two.
