i have a question, did the idea of a emp torpedo or something like that ever show up ?
i know there are already shield disabling torps and such but wouldn't a torpedo which disables nearly the whole ship systems be cool :cloak: ??

such a torpedo will perhaps appear on a neutral or non-player ship.. but i don't think it will find it's way to a player race..
well if it becomes a neutral weapon you will perhaps be able to hire the ship with the 'emp torpedo' as a mercenary
but i cannot state a certain comment on this, cause the mercenaries will come in beta3, so i have time to plan :)

cool, perhaps the mercenarie's will use banned weapon technology or something....
then the :pirate: would become very serious opponent's :)

what like warpcore weapons like in i think generations when they eject the warp core and blow up a load of ships

hm, i think warpcores are not that cheap that they can be used as weapons :)

no ti's just that they where to unperdictable and where banned

so? never knew that, where do you know that from?

hm, i don't think they would use warpcores as we know them, cause these are designed to produce energym, not to explode :) a giant antimater bomp would be more efficent as a weapon.. i could think of pirates or other "criminal" fraction to use such weaponry

ha, but that subspace weapon has nothing to do with antimatter? or?

Actually, subspace is related...
You see, the warp cores of starships are where proton/antiproton reactions take place...This reaction through matter annihilation produces the amount of energy used in order to create a stable warp field. This warp field is a bubble that forms around the energy source(ie: starship or torpedo) that warps space around the ship, thus placing it in subspace. The same science is applied to the subspace weaponry...Subspace torpedoes, I'd imagine, have tiny little antimatter cores that produce the energy required in order to enter subspace. So yeah, subspace and antimatter are entirely related B)

hm, as far as i know not the antimater core as it creates a warp field but the warp drive (the nacells and the stuff related to it).. a warpfield does create a rift in the physical space continuum, allowing the ship to travel faster then light.. it ceates some kind of "own physic engine" arround the ship, but it does not shift the ship in subspace (in one voyager episode they say that no material object can exist in subspace.. well the ciadan know better :P)
