One thing i loved about the vorcha from the deep space nine episodes and the dominion war was its pulse disruptor cannons but in fleet ops it doesnt have these it just have 1 disruptor cannon, can this be changed so it also has the pulse disruptors , the damage doesnt need to be increased i just think it would look much cooler, forward firing arc for the pulse disruptors and the forward and rear firing arc for the disruptor cannon.

Discuss... Good idea bad idea?

Even within DS9 it alternated between pulse disruptors and beam disruptors - it would probably make for a nice idea for vet armament, especially due to Manual Targeting being the ability that is granted :)

or maybe a vorcha refit?

Refitting is a Romulan thing, not a Klingon one.  Getting a pulse as a vet ability would be nice, though.

Getting a pulse at veteran is good, though I wouldn't argue with a 50/50 change of getting a pulse or keeping the current.

Refitting is Romulan, but isn't exclusive to them. A temporary mode change similar to the Norexan wouldn't be a bad idea.

The Klingons do refit.  But they don't radically redesign when they do it.  They just replace the parts with more modern versions.  (Only so far you can go with that though, thus the KBQ existing.)

Are you talking show or gamewise? Because I'm talking gamewise.

Both, really.  Gamewise...upgraded your weapon damage?  Those are the Mk V disruptors rather than the Mk IV you were using.  Upgraded your speed?  Those are new impulse engines!  Upgraded your shields?  New emitters or generators or both!

Which is much different from the Romulan method of 'lets take the same hull, but radically redo it's systems so that our enemies try to fight this Rheinn like it's loaded for pulses, but really...TORPEDOS!!!'

The Romulan one changes its role in the fleet, which is actually what the Klingon refit also does. From Cruiser to anti-cloak troopship.

They do more than just up the damage. It's the Dominion one that only upgrades stats.

My thoughts: Give Vorcha slightly weaker beam, add 2 light disruptors, remove from the beam's weapon line all lines but that of the foward emitter, and restrict it's arc, and have the pulse disruptors be for directions other than foward.

vorcha already eats short range ships.... i prefer giving it to vet instead....

Actually I had originally suggested giving Manual Targeting to the Officer Vorcha.

It was supposed to be a mix of getting more Manual Targeting on the field and adding pulses to it to satisfy those wanting to see pulses from it.  I had suggested adding pulses to it that were basically superficial damage so that they acted as the targeters :).

The Vorcha got the Manual targeting but didn't get the pulses.  Maybe it's something Optec will consider ^-^

Whatever the DPS of the ship is supposed to be, split it between the beam/pulse.

Problem solved.

It's not quite that simple.  Beam does the same damage to all ships, barring the ships having specials that reduce that damage.  Pulses do reduced damage to larger ships, and the Vorcha is a proper Klingon vessel.  It's primary purpose is to destroy ships the same size as it is, or larger.  Unlike that cowardly Phalanx, using a battleship to hunt destroyers!  There is no glory or honor in that battle.

Tok'ra there was no problem.  I had suggested "aesthetic" pulses because it would not change the balance of the Vorcha at all but it would still satisfy the people (including myself) that would love to see a veteran Vorcha bristling with weapons :D.

Splitting the damage between the beam, the torpedo it already gets, and the pulses, would be quite silly.
