i know this has been discussed numerous times but i had an idea how about for those that want the scimitar in game how about it being a replacement for the tavara in a 3rd avatar with identical stats but a different special no theleron weapon as that would make it a god ship how about being able to launch sqaudrons of scorpion attack fighters?

I like the possibility of adding the scorpion attack fighters, but if you make the Scimitar the same as a Tavara except for that you really aren't doing it justice.  If it is introduced, it should have a "perfect cloak", which would make it a god ship.  Otherwise it's just adding it in aesthetically only.

Considering the power of a fully upgraded Tavara, it would be the closest you can get to a Scimitar-type without making a godship. Sometimes, a simple aesthetic change is the best.

So a new avatar gets as one of its probably two ships one that is pretty much only an aesthetic change?

ok lets say its base stats are the same as a tavara it can be upgraded like the tavara and lets say when u upgrade the cloak u get a perfect cloak it cant be detected while cloaked but lets add at veteran the ability to fire while cloaked but when it does it also can give away its position making it possible to attack

Well, even then you get the main reason the developers said they wouldn't add it: if it has a perfect cloak, then it can make finishing a game against a Romulan player take forever.

If it gives people the Scimitar-like ship they keep asking for without unbalancing the game, it should be a rather decent deal.

only a complete twat would let a game drag on with just the 1 ship it quickly gets boring and lets not forget shields dont recharge while cloaked but thats just given me another idea how about being able to damage a cloak making it non-functional

But it's not Scimitar-like; it's Tavara-like.

I've seen it happen a lot.  But it doesn't matter if shields don't recharge when cloaked, because they can't target you.

If you disable weapons, I think that disables cloaks as well.  But since it's basically a Tavara, damaging its weapon systems wouldn't be easy without specials.

A trivial detail, pretty much all ships are pretty much the same with only minor differences like being better against specific ships and a different special. They all use the same conventional weapons, the same hull, the same shields, the same sensors, ect.

with the two "cloak levels" which will be introduced in the next patch, couldn't this be possible: when it cloakes, it keeps its shield up and goes into the advanced cloaking level (only graviton pings can make it visible). now it can attack without decloaking, but the cloak level gets lowered to the "normal" level(detectable with tachyon pings) for the time it attacks. maybe, for balancing purposes, the only problem is, that the cloaked firing would need special energy, like the norexans multi purpose weapon.

What do you think about this?

Edit: Typos, also thanks for the feedback

I think that could work pretty well.  It's not quite accurate to the movie, but it's fair.

Sounds OK to me... sounds like the Stationary Cloak that is currently used on Turrets and Miners.
