so its identical, except for the massive cylinders (why would they have tanks on an office complex?) at the bottom which are nearly as large as the rest of it.
thats nowehere near identical. if it was a small change then maybe its supposed to be of the same type. but the change is substantial, the new station was not meant to be of the same type as the regula/office station.

thats the image of the damage, its heavily damage in my opinion.
i would have preferred if they had just destroyed it completely as that seems more reasonable. but they needed a graphic to have voyager show.

It's meant to be different, but the lack of pods is all they changed from when it was used as the Regular Research station. 'Orbital office complex-type' is a bit of a mouthful. Starbase 375-type would probably be a more accurate way to address this type, but sounds stupid to me.
2 pages on Memory Alpha put the station itself as destroyed, the image is likely just an error. It's not like the show is new to that (they can't even get the uniforms right sometimes).

the question is whether we go by visual effect or dialogue. visual is usually more potent for me. if the dailogue specifically says it was destroyed i will concede that neither is wrong as both are in canon. i remember the visual details but i dont remember the exact dialogue.
what i wish had happened is that the station was vapourised by the explosion and nothing was left, that would have sorted all this out.

Simple compromise. Dialogue declares it destroyed. Visual shows something left, but that something has a giant radioactive hole in it. So, we just declare that it was rendered useless and uninhabitable, a broken shell full of slag and radioactive death.

well its not really a compromise, i never said it wasnt completely useless
it was still glowing blue in that image lol, i doubt anyone going in there will come out with working sperm.

Yes, but I had an excuse to say 'a broken shell full of slag and radioactive death'! How can I pass that up?!

LOL... that Omega directive is absolutely idiotic.
Helm: "Sir, there is a Romulan vessel decloaking"
Science: Getting some strange readings from that ship captain"
Navigation: "Sir!!! My screen has just gone funny, just an omega symbol is being displayed! I can't do anything".
Helm: "Mine too... sir, the Romulan vessel is locking on to us and powering up its weapons"
Captain: "Ah, i know what this is. Number One, take over for a while, i need to go and make a call"
Number One: "Sir, we are going to die in approximately 5 seconds... you do realize that?"
Captain: "Oh yes, Computer, release lockdown, code Omega, three, fiv....." (BOOOMMMM)
