After the removal of the starbase being able to scan an area in the map, cloaking detection became a waste of time, i def my miners to prevent hit and run attacks as they become more costly for my enemy and then i just deal with it and so far its worked out.

you are incorrect.
cloaking detection is far from a waste of time.
and if u are able to stop cloakers so easily, and lose miners and not care, then u are not playing against skilled players.
a romulan leahval strike force can kill a miner easily without losing a single leahval.
unless u are playing feds and turtling hard, in which case they should punish u by out-resourcing you.
starbases having instant-decloak (especially borg) made cloaking very risky.

i dont think so.
if i was a romulan and u didnt bother trying to cloak detect me, and u spent all your early game economy turtling i would crush your main economy before u could expand. a strike force leahvals would appear out of the shadows, pop 1 miner and then retreat. without fear of being hurt while cloaking of course. then rinse and repeat until victory!
anyways we're totally off topic. if u want to continue discussing whether cloak detect is worth the time then make another thread.

Myles, you do realize you're telling someone that Feds will lose just because they forgot an important game mechanic right?
They're Feds, all they need is to build a fleet of Monsoons or whatever and crush the Rom mining while their expansion sits there with two to four phaser turrets (and Leahvals cannot sit back and tank that damage unless you gave up metaphasic for auto-repair), then they munch the Rom base mining and defend their own with warpins. And don't talk about Roms outproducing Feds, feds have much cheaper units (both lower costs and longer build times so they use less res over time.)

LOL, if you think you can crush a fed who just builds up and turtles when your romulan, then you are not a very good opponent either, the only chance you would stand is when my main fleet leaves and you tried to take on my mining but if i had turtled it would be over anyway.
Everytime you...popped a miner you would lose a more expensive ship or 2 or 3, making you the loser, romulans dont have such defensive abilities atm.
