Warpin ships are by and large useless cannon fodder. Therefore, I suggest replacing older ships with newer ones.

Galaxy/Sovergn. Make the Sovereign a warpin, the Galaxy buildable. A Sovereign is rare. A Galaxy is not quite so much.

Excelcior/Excelcior2: The Mk2 ship is actualy pretty damned good, especially once it levels up. Plus as we see in DS9, it was the bulk of the federations cruiser fleet, as they were built and used for such a long time.

Ambasador/Akira: The ambasador is an aging heavy cruiser. The akira is a new model torpedo cruiser that, if armed as it should be, is really a battlecruiser in terms of torpedo strike power, if the Akira was warpin, it could be re-armed to have a weapon loadout that fits the ship (light on phasers, insane on torpedos). Prehaps have, as it ranks up, the ability to rapid fire (IE: temp period of 2-3 shots per salvo, for 1-2 salvos), the ability to fire a few quantum torpedos, then as it gets Veteran, the ability to either thru rank or thru upgrade purchase get an all quantum loadout.

Nebula: add more varriants prehaps including a point defence version, and even a version with a starfleet corps of engineers team for repairing ships/stations.

Defiant should also become warpin, and start out with quantum torpedos. However, accuracy should be lower against mobile small targets at lower levels.

Past that, there are still other ships that should be added, the Centaur class as one such example, with weaker phasers, and slower firing (but accurate) torpedos, and the sensor suite of a scout.

Please prove that :).

For the post: interesting idea with a sort of plausible way of thinking that these ships are new and rarer... and giving stronger warpins. But why would I be building out of date ships? My build vessels should always be top of the line... And it seems like this is for balance? Warping in really strong ships for free... I dunno.

I realize there must have been ages of posts over the galaxy build cancellation, which I still can't understand, so I'm all for it being buildable but it doesn't seem that that is going to happen.

An innocent look at this... but I don't agree with what I've read over the Galaxy ships being a waste. The war with the Dominion made them look bad... but an entire series of TNG made the flagship look like a powerhouse. I think it was just to add to the drama of the 'war is going badly' set of shows and to make the Dominion look tough, "look how we just destroyed the galaxy ship". It was blown out of proportion though, we only got that big of a shock because we're familiar with its real strength from TNG so seeing them just blow up is surprising.  I have the game Dominion wars, and the Galaxy is the top ship for that game. Build time might be long.. but it would be for a stronger ship. I sort of understand that it was a ship for citizens and was more of a city, but really, in times of war the ship would be strong. Just stop letting civilians onboard when combat is inevitable. Holodecks and science labs just makes it a more well rounded ship, it isn't just for warfare, but for peacetime as well. If there were problems with the ship design... starfleet would just fix it. I don't see them discontinuing the line, eventually yes, even constitution was eventually terminated. What can you do though, I just don't really agree that the Galaxy should be deemed unfit for use after the Dominion wars... it was a war, ships blow up.

Actually I'm beginning to like this warpin everything idea.

Frankly, I'm sick and tired of having to spend resources on building ships to supplement the free ones I get from Warpin when I SHOULD be spending that money on a wall of turrets.

Apples are by and large blue.  Therefore, I suggest spray painting them red. :D

Sorry, I just had to poke a little fun and I don't mean too much offense, Tok'ra. :P

There have been as many warp-in threads as there are AOL disks, and remember that someone figured out that if you stacked all those disks one upon another, they would be as high as the Sears Tower in Chicago.  I simply recommend that you search through the forums, as all the arguments against large scale changes have been discussed a lot by the community and by the developers themselves.  It will help you understand why suggesting something like this might create some resistance.

Well. you have to also consider we only see galaxys get pwnd in the case of the odyssey, and that was back when Dominion weapons still were able to penetrate alpha quadrant sheilds more easily (depending on the script, at least, admitedly). Plus it was rammed, something that'd do mass damage and realisticly, the bugs antimatter detonating on the hull NOT instantly causing the odyssey's warp core to become a big 'ol bomb and go boom shows the galaxy itself was rather tough.

Plus it is VERY reasonable to assume that before the war ended most galaxy class ships ended up getting either quantum torpedos only, or at least being modified to be able to use some, plus better sheilds, etc etc.

Past that, I imagine that for new construction it'd be mostly canceld in favor of the Sovergin class.

As for warpin balance .... prehaps increase the cooldown time, and make warpin only have a ship come to the starbase.

As for building 'old' ships........... if you can build new ships that are much better, whats even the point of calling in older ships to be cannon fodder in small numbers.

It'd make far more sense to get a few advanced ships that, when unleveld especily are still somewhat easy to kill, but which could be a core component of a fleet later on.

If nothing else, it'd be a cool option to add, if nothing else for folks that prefer realistic trek in Co-Op type maps, or in SP.

actually what if warpin costed and you can't build any ships from yards? or at least you could but only small ships, and big ships come from warpins like sov, def, ex, ava, with same prices. but only come with limited number at a time? that way the federation gets the feeling of warpin but not free warpin. and fed has shipyard - basically it would be like nox player where the longer the feds are unattended the bigger and eviler their ships are *i'm also saying a diffrent SFC with no limit cuz atm adv. yard has no limits*

Tok'ra, you have to consider that FO is set a bit in the Future of Trek universer, that's why Defiants, Akiras and Sovereigns are the usual Starfleet ships. Starfleet had exactly 12Galaxies, in many FO games with Feds we see 6already .
And as I said already in the other thread: Warp ins aren't useless at all(I think that is what all the other guys wanted to point out with "LOL" ;)). 3strong ships for nothing, nothing!! Got that? I get a Ktinga for 140dil, so it costs more than 6Glaxies  and can't even destroy an Excelsior.
