I would like a surrender option for the comm menu. Each player that is not you, AI, or Observer will have a button that when clicked, will ask you if you really want to surrender to the specified player. If you hit yes, all of your units will have their controls transferred to that player as well as all of your resources. And, well, you loose!

You can already do this manually, at least to your allies. You can't do it with opponents, but I have no idea why you would want to.

i cant see how this would help in a 1v1 since you can just say gg and quit.
in a team game you wouldnt give the other team your ships, you would give them to your allies.
i counter propose a button which automatically gives all your ships and res to a selected ally. of course with the exception of the things that cant be sent, which u should decom first.

If a player hits the surrender button, all units and resources are given to the player that was surrendered to.

I can't see why anyone would use this....in a 1vs1 if you did this the game would end...and as Myles said, in a team game people would either lose all their ships/stations/resources or give them to their allies, rather than give them to their enemies...so what is the point of this?

also you cant give ALL units since that would violate caps.

Really useful would be if one could give all Stuff to an observer...

It would allow a player to leave a game and spare his/her units. Isn't the idea of surrendering to save yourself? It would probably be most useful in a free-for-all or team game. If you surrender, you've probably lost anyways. Plus, if you have to leave suddenly, you can surrender to someone, including an ally, and he/she can maintain your fleet for you.

in a team game you would never surrender to an enemy player since that would help them. you would give all your stuff to an ally, which isnt really surrendering, its donating.

It is surrendering. You're loosing and surrendering your units would prevent their destruction.

this is semantics and doesnt matter at all. we are never gonna agree on it.
about the idea, i would only want this for allies. and just to make it easier to give them your stuff as now it requires several buttons.

If this were implemented, I dont see anyone using it having people willing to be on their team. Ever.

If the feature is used, the game (for that player anyways) is already over.

Here is an example of Boggz surrendering to Mal:
Boggz: gg
Mal: gg
Seems pretty simple to me. =D

thats a terrible example, mal would never behave like that.
lemme correct it for you:
boggz: gg
mal: ha, it was a good game indeed, i was confident of my superior skill from the beginning and the victory was as pleasant as i had predicted. i mean its exactly what most people predicted the result would be, i am a superior human being and you should feel privileged that i played a game with you, and you should take pride that it was such a magnanimous victor such as i to whom you have suffered the ignominy of defeat. gg
mal is very elitist, he hates nuubs
