Summary of Feature Requests

Here’s a summary of the feature requests that have been discussed thus far.
Galaxy Class
• Saucer Separation
• Hero Galaxy - has Particle Stream (causes constant hull damage but has long cooldown time)

Sovereign and Defiant Class improvement
• Sovereign weapons upgrade
• Defiant ablative armor
• Increased firing rate for pulse phasers

Nebula Class
• Customizable Pod
• Replace pulse phasers with Photons

Klingons
• More crew
• More defense

Borg
• Reduce offensive value of higher priority ships (sphere, cube)
• Better balance for early micromanagement and resource production

Romulans
• Reduce offensive value of Tavara

Trading Stations

Cardassians as playable race

Refit system for Federation
• Older Federation ships can be upgraded once specific structure has been built. Later refits can be researched e.g., War Galaxy, Excelsior refit, Miranda refit

Missing:

- nebulas with more use
- Space rifts with actions
- feds should research more and klingons less (research in yards for klingons, extra buildings for feds)
- Alternative Ways to win
- Shield Generator
- Increasing Borading Party Strength of Klingon, Borg and Dominion
- AI Improvements (doesn't attack you If it has a different target in mind, even if you shoot at it, ships dont turn arround to shoot at you, if they can't shoot you with their cannons because you aren't in front of them)
- Improve Map Editor
- AI builds ships way to fast

Also dont forget the capturability of NPC race ships, and the inclusion of varied abilities for NPC vessels.

If CArdies as playable are impossible, then at least as 3rd dissident faction of Dominion.

You also forgot all the noxtor/8472 discussion however what is the point of this thread? I don't see it as having one at the moment

noxter 8472 - Optec mentioned that noxter was going to be unique and not mirror 8472 in any blatant wat.
So we're waiting on that.

I think that was covered with the "customizable weapons pod"

I briefly glanced at the Noxter thread. Very interesting concept that would make the game seem more like Aliens with hordes of Noxter larva infesting and breeding on my starships. I don't see how one could combat that with phasers. Some new special abilities would have to be developed to deal with the Noxter threat.

in regards to the Tavars - do we want to reduce the offensive or defensive? are we sure on which one it is to be?
and of course by how much?

cos if the borg ever get changed or the dominion dynamics are altered, then a slow built tavara would be a good balance against those 2.
Feds are already spammers, and klings too.
So a strong Tavara may need to be reconsidered if dominion or borg changes are intended.

so yeah, this summary will be pretty useful.

Will help us see where some requests may not be feasible or viable if others are also implemented.

and why reduce borg offensive value omg.
Borg changes will really need to be examined by the mods if ever made. Their balance is a delicate affair. if ever tweaked, they need to be done after considering whatever additional stuff the mods wish to incorporate (if any).
so i dont bank much on any major changes to the borg.

Im just looking forward to a replacement of miners with static mining stations for the borg which can mine at a stream rate. and for them that's about it.

Dominion ideas shouldnt be missed.
Black baron came up with a neat idea on a pack squad of jem'hadar and experience opening up a more powerful ram.
Optec liked that one.

Well everyone knows, I'm the most canon guy around the board, so I could go for the group ram since that's exactly what they did to the Klingons in "Tears of the Prophets."

not group ram.
It involves the special ability of the scarab ship being the formation of a hunting pack which will coordinate firepower on a specific target and deal a % more damage than normal.
As the experience of a scarab ship increases, the scarab in question then gets access to the ram ability, and this ability will be more powerful than the weak flick that we now have.

This is approximately what Baron suggested, and what Optec liked.

it would b great if they expand more on there buildItemXAvailibility commands to allow a mixture of the 2 (so ships are hidden from the build list untill they become avilble then rehide wen they become unavailble. also some other changes which i can not remember atm
