Idea: Reduce the transport team size of small vessels, and increase the transport team size of larger vessels.

Effects: multi-scubes would be less effective at boarding, but cubes would be more effective (etc).

(just a thought)

A very nice idea :)

It would definitely be very cool gameplay and modding-wise if the transport variables could be set on a per ship basis

Assimilating would be way more scaleable, force people into teching up for larger ships (instead of spam), and so many other shiny possibilities.

Assim is fairly well balanced as it is, at least ever since blue-beam assim got nerfed. I love playing assim Borg, but I'm not sure a boost would be a good thing.

I always found it odd that a Galaxy or Sovereign could only transport 5 people at the time so I'm all in favor of this.

Boosting the borg assimilation however sounds like a very bad idea.

Actually, I'm thinking it's a bit of a nerf to borg assim. If you mass small ships now as borg, you have a strong assimilation fleet (each doing a 5 drone transport team), but if you had small ships doing a 1 or 2 man transport team, then all those small ships become much less effective as an assimilation fleet. An assim borg would have to rely on the larger vessels to do the assim-ing.  (me thinks)

While it could work out for small vessels, the unfortunate result from making assimilation/boarding dependent on size is that small/medium vessels would be stripped of crew usually before they enter firing range.

Unless each crew is multiplied tenfold the draining effect would simply become too overwhelming.

It's not like the numbers can't be tweaker once this is implemented. It is silly to me that bigger ships can't transport more people at a time, and it makes sense that smaller ships would be able to transport less.

This definitely wouldn't be a nerf to assimilation, but I think it would make it feel more Trek across all factions. It's often mentioned in the shows that when talking about the power of a warship they would mention how many transporters they have.

Definitely think this is a good idea! :D

You could also make it so newer ships have a hire resistance to being captured then older ships with out dated security systems.

Such as it should be easer to captor a Galaxy class then a Sovereign class even though they have a similar crew compliment.

For weapons that hijack the computer, you could use that to justify for non-refitted ships. Boarding through Transporter shouldn't work that way, they are protected by crew with guns rather than automated defences.

Federation and Romulan Constructors and Freighters would easier to capture, though; they're mostly civilian-crewed, even during war-time.

did i miss something?

i thought every race in fleetops transport 3 people at once.. and borg transport 3.5 people at once?

Every faction in Fleet Ops transports 3 crew at once. The strength of those crew are different only for the Troop Ships and Martok Avatar bonuses (and some mixed tech stuff).

Yeah, the problem is that the transport rates and strengths are race specific not ship specific.  I don't know if the devs can change that.

The transport rates/distance/size are actually universal - the strengths are faction specific :)

Everything can be changed given enough time and will  ^-^
