good idea but then people would just mass produce that 1 ship, maybe in all honesty the adaption thing should be left out?
it may work in movies and Trek episodes but i dont think its going to work in a game enviroment.

You could prevent players from mass-producing a single vessel with the new odf-command.
So, if there is a vessel which is not affected by whatever-nano-assimilation-adaptor the Borg use, you can limit its build number - if you want to be just mean - to one.
Problem solved. Adaption integrated. If you would like to.

it would be nice to just keep it simply, like a regular ship ability that has to be researched. Something that takes the enemys damage down by 50% for 5 seconds or something like that, that way you dont have to bother around with making a single ship for all races and such.

I fully agree with that.
There would be enough of adaption if the Borg would have a special-ability like that.
At last: It's a game.
Remember Tomb Raider? Lara Croft was able to sprint. If I would have stopped sprinting in sports-class back at school as fast as she did in the game, my teacher would have kicked.. uhm.. whatever.
What I wanted to say: If the Borg adapt for a short period of time I think it would be enough of more super-power for a super-race. To do that, a special ability is absolutely fine.

Answer: Credit ship.
I do believe that this is a real possibility. For v3, even!
Heres how it would work: the ship is a support ship. For it's lvl 3 ability, it would have "adaption shield" or whatever the heck they wanna call it. This would hopefully be an AoE buff to allied ships. What the shields would do is that they would become immune to whatever type of weapon hits them next. All other weapon damage is normal. The idea here is that it is the perfect weapon against a single-type fleet. Of course, it would have to be a credit ship, or at least a restricted-number ship or the AI would mass-produce the things in all likelihood. Truth is, any more that one, maybe two for a big borg fleet, would be redundant.
Sure, I'm no odf wizard, but I know for a fact much of what I suggest is possible, and I've seen the FO team do impossible things easily.
If this is a very stupid or just poorly written idea, keep in mind that I have pneumonia and I've been awake 14 hours.

well you could have it be like the rom clock station it dose it for the whole fleet for a limited time just an idea and you can only build one so they can build like 10 and always have it on
