as i'm already spamming posts today i can propose an idea of mine. it was already proposed in one of my posts earlier but i feel like there was no discussion about it.

right now when U queue a ship for construction U pay for it when it starts constructing. i propose to pay for a ship when u queue it. here is why:

early game when i want to expand and my constructor gets to exp i must wait to get res for the building. usually when i'm producing b'rels or sabers (rhienn costs more then mining station). of course a ship pops out of a shipyard right b4 i am able to start building a mining station. i must delay the ship production so i click on the shipyard, delay it then get back to build my exp. what if i have a more expensive ship waitning in queue somewhere. as soon as i delay one ship another starts to build. this is v annoying :crybaby:

late game lets say i have 6 shipyards. i take a look at my res and can see 2000d/2000t. does that mean i can afford one more shipyard or 3 of my shipyards are just finishing their ships. i dont know so i find myself checking all of my shipyard to find that out. this not that bad when all my shipyards all close to each other but i like to have shipyards scattered around the map near my expansions so my ships can repair faster. those values (dil/trit) should reflect how strong is my economy especially late game. right now they mean nothing to me and i need to check my economy 'by hand'.

lets say i had 4 exp and i lost one. i have 3 and my economy is to weak to support all my shipyard. again i find myself circling through shipyards delaying/deleting ships that i dont need and prioritizing ones i need. this is highly inefficient as i usually need to through all my shipyards around the map simply cuz i dont remember where what ships are queued.

i suspect some of U will argue that what we have now let U focus more of ur fleet. this is somewhat true but i usually click at the place where a ship was build to add it to my fleet right away. the only difference would be to also click on the shipyard and use hotkey, it takes like 0.5-1 sec and it nullifies all of the problems i mentioned b4. what u think guys?

I think it should be a Pay-as-you-build system. Where you can pause construction and put your resources to something else you had paused some time ago.

What if you start a list, pay all the resources for them and then think of something else to build?

Nice idea. Especially useful when you have enough resources and order your constructor to build some facility somewhere, but by the time it gets there, you don't have enough resources. Another useful feature would be to be able to queue research.

Some research can be queued, namely Repair contracts and most Federation Special weapons.

i think the idea is good only if u get 100% of the resources back if u decide not to build a ship from the list as it helps to keep track of ur economy.

i like the idea of quing ur research but there is the problem of the research that is not available until another research is dne such as a lvl 2. also using the yard research thing like the feds u can technically que the research already)

of course u should get 100% if u cancel a ship.

i ment it to ensure that as it appeared to be a concern after reading the other comments

Ah, I should have been clearer, when I said I didn't understand, I meant that in relation to your idea: I don't think I get what you are driving at... could you re-explain please?

when U queue a ship U dont pay res for it until it starts constructing. i want it to be so that U pay for every ship U put in the quere. so when U click on a romulan shipyard and hit 'h' 3 times U pay for 3 rhienns.

this would mean great loss of resources if u forget or didn't cancel them in time
before loosing that shipyard...

I agree Mort.

I can't really say I like this implementation... that would mean that essentially you'd have to keep an even closer eye out for your shipyards than you do now, because otherwise you'd never be able to queue up bigger ships if you didn't have any resources. In fact, since I try to never stock up on dilithium or tritanium, I would be perpetually unable to build more than one ship at a time from a shipyard... would be quite tedious no?
