I realize that. I'm not saying that being caught in the blast radious of another ships destruction should destroy you ... but I do think that it should cause some damage. It just makes sense.

It should do a TON of damage or destroy any ship in the radius, pending ship size. The largest should be able to blow up pretty much anything at point blank range except for most stations.

if you did that with out a dawt it whood be unbalinsted and unrelaistic all it whood take is a fleet of 3-4 well potioned ships and you cood wipe out eny desive systom or fleet.

If that's your battle strategy, go for it. :)

Well ewm thats realism, it's either like that or no self destruct.

I totally agree with ewm, that is totally unbalanced and because FO is founded on balance I say rather no self destruct, but It would be ok as it was in A1 and 2.

People are forgetting that blowing up your ship means you just lost xxxx resources. It should be damaging a small ship blowing up should take down a battleships shields by 1/4 a large ship blowing up should comletely cripple a small ship. Maybe if possible add a 30% chance of dissableing a random system, this would make it worth while using occasionaly but not overpowered. Not sure about that last one as i dont think there is a percentage chance for the dissable system thing.

If we get tractor beams back I wouldn't sacrifice anything.

if we had tractor beams then we would have to make them so they wouldn't work under cloak

I don't think they do now...

the whole point of the cloack is that it can't be used with weapons, but a ship could have a special ability of fiiring while in cloack, but it would give away it's position, and you could manually fire at it
