You would think the fact that all of a sudden they cannot move through a certain part of their base would be a dead give-away

They would be small black holes, as to the power of them, well, a black hole has to have gravity strong enuff to tear a hole in the fabric of space and time just to be a black hole. I'm sure it would have no trouble imploding a vessel.

Only if the black hole has enough mass, if it's too small then it'll just evaporate in a few microseconds, which I'd assume would be the case inside a Romulan ship. anyone have footage of a romulan ship exploding/imploding from one of the shows or movies?

the closest scenes of romulans exploding was in the war. a couple big D were hit hard. but none actually exploded they just got really badly beaten and floated off as burning wreckage.

in nemesis the valdore's friend got hurt pretty bad, but again i dont think it actually exploded, just got a wing clipped off.

maybe reviewing the battle from DS9: The Die is Cast would help

EDIT: just reviewed that battle. none were destroyed on screen. this is probably because space battles were more expensive and difficult to make that far back.

so canon seems to not have anything on how these ships explode so fans can decide for ourselves.
