AFAIK, it was stated in the series that Romulans use artificial quantum singularity as their ships' power source and therefore they should implode (instead of exploding). I wonder, is there any possible way to implement this?

The TV series says lots of things just to introduce some technobabble

Ok, so you want implosions.... it should be possible, instead of breaking the module apart and exploding you do the reverse, although saying that the explosion routine could be hardcoded (i suspect it is) so this may require some code work, not just editing game files, in which case I think the devs have more important things to be working on.

In the original armada II there was a black hole singularity entity which sucked ships without engines in, make a small one, medium and large one for when different size romulan ships. When they explode put the wormhole entity in for a few seconds then make it go away.

Haha I love that idea :D
Have it when Rommie ships explode (or should I say implode), it sucks enemy ships toward it
But only a little bit.  ^-^

that would be intresting but i would say make it a random occurance as just beacause a blackhole powers it it dsnt mean that when the ship is destroyed it would implode if the containment or fuel source is damaged the blackhole could simply die before the ship is sucked it

Different kinds of explosions for each race would be outstanding! So far Armada II features just one kind.

well each race can have different explosion waves

And damage if it detonates? I think, it would be cool to see ships that a near an exploding borg cube go boom too. I dont think, a steamie would survive that.

cant that already be done

it can, but the way ships break apart is hardcoded atm.  you can change how they do it, but it will apply to all ships not one race in particular.

Bear in mind, though, that it's not likely an ENTIRE black hole in each ship, likely just a tiny fragment, so the effect wouldn't be THAT much.

There is no such thing as a "fragment", it is either a black hole or it isn't. They would be small black holes, as to the power of them, well, a black hole has to have gravity strong enuff to tear a hole in the fabric of space and time just to be a black hole. I'm sure it would have no trouble imploding a vessel.

Ah, this idea had been proposed in the past and I believe the devs thought it'd be a cool idea for some ships (like the D'deridex).

A blackhole wouldn't necessarily cause a ship to implode since we don't even know how any of that startrek phantasy stuff works. A 'real' blackhole of that mass would just evaporate rather quickly without being fed, not to mention that a blackhole would have exactly the same properties as any other massive object. If you were to replace a blackhole of the same mass of the sun in lieu of the sun, it would have the exact same effect (in terms of mass) on the planets (other than of course light etc) as the sun would.

That reminds me, I miss the self-destruct button :( Found it very useful as Borg and you always see ships running like hell when a cube blows due to the boom - canon but a bit imba in fleet ops, still a self destruct which at least knocks aoe shield damage out would be enough to make me happy when my cube goes pew

Hehehe. I would love to destroy a star base by detonating all 50-100 cloaked Klingon scouts surrounding it at once  :sweatdrop: :sweatdrop:
