I was referring to the D'deridex when I mentioned two stations of course, although I can see where I wasn't as specific on that.  Don't give me crap, I've been pulling an all nighter and I'm tired!  :( :crybaby:

I think adding a pure torp unit would solve this issue completely, something along the lines of a susa or sang.

Serkas is pure Torp... the Delevhas Class is currently unused.

the delevhas is the proto for the serkas right? i would think it would be more suited left as a map object.

Serkas is a useless artilery ship that is weak in defense and crap agaisnt anything that moves, so is only useful agaisnt stationary targets and even then useless because they are quite expensive and and cant cause enough damage to be worth decloaking near a station and firing and they cant defend them selves well agaisnt well microed ships.

Like i said in previous post a torp ship like sang or susa is what i think romulans need.

about the serkas, lets make sure im clear on this, im not saying it can do what a sang can, definitely not, but its far from useless. definitely expensive, but a couple of these cloakable terrors put out a serious amount of damage from afar. definitely not an early game option, but if u can sneak a few out later, then be mean with them, they can be quite useful.

attack a mining station and any miners docking will get flattened like matzos too.

and they are great during fleet engagements, just sit them out of range and watch the kills pile up

I agree that serkas just don't see enough player attention, that doesn't mean they're bad.  There was one replay a while back where rom player made a single serkas in a 3v3 and used it to control the map HARD.

I haven't tried an Eresis rush in a while, but the Cehlaer rush isn't very good.  It can do well against medium-skilled players but a true expert will bring monsoons or S2 to shut you down hard, or just fly around you and kill your mining.

It isn't just a Dominion thing to have specific ships with high supply cost, it's a carrier thing. The Avalon and B-5 have much higher supply costs than the other ships in their race, while also having reduced resource costs.  So you can rush and produce a few (since they're also limited ships, the effect is redundant)  If you get the yard, you get some B-5's first and then augment them with other ships.  If they're all wiped out before you get supply up, you can't replace them.  In the same way, the D'Deridex could form the core Romulan fleet but if you lose them, you can't replace them.

Another reason we see few Serkas is that they require Tal'shiar, but getting Tal'shiar just for them is too costly, and they don't add much to a Generix-based strategy.

Not to be too OT, but does that Delevhas ship look a little, um, stumpy? Kinda funny looking thing...

its model is old, and the ship is not really in use. its either on todo, or a leftover that we can choose not to use if it looks out of place.

So be polite and ask the enemy to come to a stop so you can kill them.......

That or just think tactics, bait them into something that will get them to come to a stop or wait until they are not moving.

I've gotten kills on brel swarms cloaked, guarding a klink expansion, with them before.

My decloak scout pinged the BoPs near the expansion.... and my claoked serkas rushed in (I had like 4-5 of them) and I decloaked and force fired on the are they were at... then ran like hell.

A few BoPs died, my serkas cloaked and ran off, and my cloaked fleet wiped out the BoPs OUTSIDE of the range of the box of four HWPs guarding that expansion.

Even funnier, my serkas popped the klink HWPs, and each time a miner unloaded (why he didnt pop I dunno, he had like 6 miners per moon for some reason) I shifted fire long enough to kill a miner or two.

I'm not sure which is scarier my idea being viewed as good or 27 posts on it that fast. The issue isn't that beams are bad just that most of romulan beam choices come with pulses as well for a % of fire power. All beam or all torpedo or beam/torps. Work better.

Still its more an idea than a serious here is a model/yard/plot. Although I think any sure ship should be based off a non generix tech facility. That way there are more reasons to not mass those stupid things. lol.

Elitism was soooo 2010. :D

And I agree with Acheron.  We want to stop the generix spam. ^-^
