I think that the resource management is just too boring.
We could perhaps make it less boring by adding researches to it, for example a faster mining beam or a special miner.
A other way might be good too, but I don't know anything for that right know.
So what do you guy's think?

I think thats a good idea, dont know if its moddable though. Also maybe some avatars could give faster mining as a bonus or something, that could work too :)

yeah thats possible, on stock A2, the weapons lvl3 upgrade not only sped up conventional weapons but also the mining beams on both the frieghters & planet minning stations.

lol yep, after you did the lvl3 weapon upgrade the mining beam sped up to the point that it looked like just 1 continuous beam. this is probably because although it isn't an offensive weapon, it is still classed as one and hence affected by the weapon research. another thing at the lvl2 weapon upgrade the mining beam becomes slightly more effective, instead of extracting 7-8 dilithium/metal per cycle (weapon discharge) it will start extracting 10-12 per cycle. But admittedly this is not so noticeable, as i only noticed when i speciffically looked for it :) .

The thing is, I didnt really play a lot of stock A2, so I really cant know this :S

In V2 you freighters do increased mining operations after weapon speed upgrade.
But if there'd be an additional freighter cargo update ( up from 150 to 300) including an increased beam efficiency... sounds cool to me.

Nevertheless I prefer Armada 2 resource management with metal out of planets, dil, lat....BUT HEY! They are coming from Armada 1 with just Dilithium... now there are 2 resource classes (except crew)...sounds improvable. Iit's the right step into the right direction... :P

Seriously FleetOps has its own resource management and it's quite ok... and easy to handle. For me it's just a bit boring...I'm from A2 you see ;)

I was also thinking about special freigthers who would do their work faster on one resource, but it would be more expensive.
And I think that they should be researched then.

back on topic.....that's a very sweet idea too, but the freighter should be at least twice as expencive and it should only be buildable later in the game.

of course it's all up to the DEVs it's their game, they'r making it for themselves, we'r just lucky enough to get it0, we can still discuss stuff can't we?

I think if there will be cargo upgrades not all races should have it. One of Armada 2 's huge weaknesses is the worse differences races offer. Romulans, Federation, Klingons and Cardassians do quite have the same sheme of ressource and ship management. It's extremly boring after a while. The only difference is that each race has another resource priority. So Klingons don't need as much crew (350) to build 1 Que' ral on the other hand Romulans need for the corresponding ship ( Venator) 400 but for that less Dilithium ( just 280 ) and also a bigger range.
Even stations are quite the same just with a different look. Maybe Activision is the reason for that... I dunno.

Borg and Species 8472 are the only races where I can say MadDoc did a creative job.

For each race in FO I'd really love to see its own and characteristic style in ressource management, balancing and gameplay.

So finally what I want to say: If there will be cargo updates just let one race own it.

You guys could think about ressource management that cause the game become more interesting and race specific. Maybe there's something which is useful for DEVs.
