It would be nice to be able to set the AI to let the ships return to shipyard when having received a certain amount of damage.

E.g. in a DS9 episode there was mentioned that "Klingon ships got priority over Romulan vessels" and it came out that this was because Klingons took more damage due to their tactics.

So e.g. Klingon ships would retreat if hull strength was 40-60% while Romulans would withdraw at 80% hull strength.

Being able to set the AI like that would solve the problem in having to micro manage large fleets.

You would need to set battlefield exit points to realise this - some kind of beacons you can set, where damaged a ship automatically moves to befor returning to a yard. You could make it so that you can place as many of them as ou want (you may have 2 or ore battles going on at different places) and the ship always chooses the nearest one (a shipyard itself should count as one too to avoid a senseless move to a dstant beacon set in a battle before). To avoid mess on the map with beacons you could be active tor 120 secs only.
