Ok... we all have those games where we tell a ship to repair, it heads for the yard, you continue microing you fleet in a battle, and the next thing you know, that ship with 5% hull heads right back for the enemy fleet.
I find this extremely irritating and was wondering if we could get some sort of priority repair icon so we know for sure what ships are getting repaired, and which ones aren't.
Anyway, I think this would solve a lot of issues we all get and prevent a lot of unfortunate accidents from happening.

The Priority Repair (Shift+R) order will make a ship ignore every order given until repaired, so you can't send them into battle by accident.

but you can
if you issue new order when ships is just entering yard... sometimes it just forget to repair.. and turn away from yard

Obviously it would be disabled eventually (permenant would be pointless), but it's already served its purpose and got the ship to the yard uninterrupted.
Who would give an order to a ship just turning into the yard? Anyone who does that deserves to lose it.

actually there is a bug, that makes your ship turn and go back into battle after you give it a repair order, and put it in a diffrent fleet... I even had trouble that all my fleet went back to shipyard when i only told 1 ship to go back.... i'm sure a small yellow repair sign won't hurt on the ship when it has repair orders.. ^^;

Which repair order has the bug? Because priority repair won't do anything except go for repair, even after I mess with the fleet.

actually priority repair is touchy too, sometimes u give priority repair orders and the ship wont ignore further orders, it will infact obey them normally. another bug is already known that when a replaceweapon happens it forgets its orders and goes back on ai control.

I think funnystuff's problem was the replaceweapon bug, you can see it in action in the replay on youtube. The main problem is that a ship is retreating, but whil doing so it kills something, thus it ranks up, the rankup makes it forget orders, and it sees ships coming after it so it attacks. Hopefully the devs will fix it soon.
For now I would suggest paying more attention to what your ships are doing, you can easily tell it to repair again once it ranks up. Some kind of indicator would help if you have trouble keeping track of your repairing ships, but I'd rather the devs just fix the bug by the next patch rather than doing a workaround that would make things more micro-intensive. Also I'm pretty sure the repair indicator would go away on rankup due to replaceweapon bug.
Replaceweapon is rather unfriendly, it also makes ships targeting a replaceweaponed ship stop targeting it, and I even saw an unshielded Ambassador-class I had get its shields back up when using Energy Rerouting, even tho an Assimilator was transporting onto it IIRC.

Tyler, I have had a lot of games where I have done the priority repair, and yes, "its supposed to ignore every order until its repaired, but it doesnt.
Yeah this explains it! THis is exactly what happened!
So its when I put it into another fleet? Anyway, id still like a priority repair indicator so I know whats getting repaired and what ships are not getting repaired.

to funny - i put it in another fleet, cuz my fleet 1 or 2 is still attacking, and i want to hit 1 or 2 without actually selecting the body of ships in combat ^^;

I must be lucky then, because it's the only repair order I use and hasn't failed me in FO or even stock. When a battle's small or dying down, I tend to watch them fly back to base (in the cinematic view instead of overhead).
If this is an existing problem, it doesn't seem to happen to me.

Well I tell a ship to repair, then press 1 as thats my fleet grouping, issue orders to move, and the ship that has priority repair ends up back in battle...
lol

I had very often the same problem . The ship starts to move to the nearest shipyard, and after few seconds turns around, goes back to the battle. (and dies fast) It can be very annoying, and because of that I, stopped using that order in my last few games.
Thats bad because I could be very useful, makes microing easyier. If you have a fleet grouped under a number, you can just pick damaged ships and send them repair with the hotkey, select the group (with the number on your keyboard) and concentrate firepower. (if you have a large fleet its highly likely that during the "pick-and send repair" process, your fleet can manage a kill, and needs to ordered to the next target)
And I also had an issue, using it combined with the cloak hotkey. Picked damaged ship with mouse - hit ctrl+c than shift+r, and the ships very often forgot to cloak (they have the energy and the cooldown time - chechked it a lot of times, and you also cant cloak them after the priority order manually - it would be ok, if you could have cloaked them with the hotkey before....)
(sorry for my bad english, im not a native speaker, and I dont use it very often)

I just wish it let you cloak ships after ordering them to repair.

It does, if you use the standard repair.
