I would like to see the fleet-caps removed for certain units in fleet-ops.
The vessels should have a resource cost in place of the fleet-cap system. The Borg shouldn't have any fleet-cap systems in place period. For the Starfleet Command station, I would like it to be possible for multiple stations to be built, but only one being able to actually call for reinforcements. Using the replaceweapon to change ODF files for the station should do the trick. For the Dominion, remove all fleet-caps except for the prototypes, but increase the cost of their more powerful units like the hyperspace artillery vessel. For the Romulans and Klingons, remove all caps.

I'm quite fine with cap files, they suit the purpose of limiting unique or rare ships well.
Why wouldn't the Borg have caps? They will still only build certain stations sparingly like anyone else, which is more efficient than wasting resources.

Perhaps because they are more likely to decided if two is the needed number, they'll use two, instead of having to contact their superiors and be told "Do you have any idea how rare that is?! If I let you have another one before you lose the one you've got, my boss will skin me!"
From all the species they've assimilated, they have to have developed something similar to the Trojan Horse, or the Duck Call.

They have finate resources like anyone else, especially after their empire got blown to crap and they have an empire and fleet to rebuild. Regardless of circumstances, they still have to prioritize their choice of construction. 2 Recyclers won't be much more efficient than 1 when it ties up a Constructor and the cost isn't worth a mere 5 resource increase.
The cap isn't 1 Recycler, it's 1 Recycler in that sector. What does a Trojan Horse have to do with unit caps?

TCR I'd like to see your reaction to being rushed by an unlimited number of B-8's. I'd also like to see your reaction to:
A) Being overrun by Warpins
Having your base flattened by a dozen Hyper Arties
C) Never killing a single vessel supported by 25 Support Refit Generix
D) Try to get through a wall of Perimeters
Hmm ... I could go on .... but I'll just say:
The caps are made to ensure that unique vessels with unique properties on them remain balanced. A lot of your feature requests are based on the fact that you just don't like it
. That's a hard stance to get behind, friend.

Don't forget that this also is just asking for a fleet of Tavara, BortaS & V-15 Dreadnoughts to come and swarm your base.
They would come under this:

Some units, yes they should be.
Some units SHOULD stay limited.
Some units, should be possible to buy a higher cap (warpins as one example)

We have no intentions to remove caps on certain units for either balance or lore reasons. The majority of ships is uncapped.
Upgradable caps will arrive soon

I second the removal of the Bortas fleetcap. That's easily my favorite Klingon unit.

Okay. Can I make a mini-mod based on this cap-release so we can try it for real?
I doubt that you could overrun me with warpins due to this release. You might be able to build multiple stations, but you will be able to call warp-ins from only one of those stations. The others are just backup.
I know that building a bunch of recyclers would be a waste of space. Plus, you would have to build 4 optimized supply generators for every recycler you built. If they have the space, let them use it how they want.

FO odfs are free to be modded, so a mini-mod that removes most caps shouldn't anger any lawyers.
I'd recommend simply removing the ship entries from the cap files, it'll be much easier than removing the file entry from all the odfs. I don't think you can have multiple stations, but only one use the Warp-In with the current game design.
On a related poll, is it possible to close the poll? It's not really needed with a devs view already stated.

If you'd play more 1 v 1's online (which you've stated you will not play), I think your opinion on Warpins would change dramatically
