So i started playing Battle for Middle Earth 2 again and lately ive been wondering what features from other games we could incorporate into FO. When you play a skirmish game somewhere on the map is Gollum and he has the one ring. Once you kill him you can take the ring back to your fortress and you can build a special hero. Naturally for the badies its Souron and for the goodies its Gladriel. Anyway I was thinking that this might be a good idea for fleetops.
An example would be some poor unfortunate NPC who thought he would get rich by transporting a omega particle across the sector only to get chased down by the borg cube and assimilated him and took the omega particle for themselves and built an uber cube with it.
Naturally as fleetops is more about balanced fleets rather than spamming dreadnoughts it shouldn't be as god-ship/game-ender but it should be significantly stronger than a regular ship. Also it prolly wouldn't be the omega particle either I was just using that as an example.
To implement it i was thinking that there would be either a small NPC outpost with a few ships guarding it possibly cloaked, a few ships that travel around, or a group of ships that warps at one point on the map then travels to another spot and then warps out. There would be one ship that would contain the cargo and it would have to be captured in order to secure the cargo (if it was destroyed then it would simply be lost) and then taken to your starbase. At which time you would be able to construct one advanced warship. Let me know what you think.

not really for this use, but it could be used to give a "King of the Hill" kind mode as an option to normal gameplay wheren the players have to conquer the special cargo/station/thingie for a certain time to win...

I would like rare resources. In fact, here is my idea of rare resources:
Dycanium: A rare metal that is super-dense nearly to the point of making it indestructable to conventional weapons (Phasers, Photon Torpedoes, and other common cfg weaponry). Due to its superdensity, it is very hard to form or shape, greatly increasing the construction time for any ships that use this material. That is why Dycanium is only used by a handful of vessels because of its rarity and its superdensity. Though for ships that use this, even an armor plating less than a centimeter thick can effectively repel damage dealt by most conventional weaponry.
Uronium: A rare crystal used to power ships, first discovered by a scientist who encountered a future Federation vessel that crashed on a planet in the Kul Tiras system, deep in Breen space, this crystal has been studied for sometime. It has been found that Uronium is most efficient when introduced to Anti-Uranium for the Matter-Antimatter reaction. Though due to the extreme instability of Anti-Uranium the use of Uronium has been almost abandoned by Federation researchers. The only reason research continues is because the biproduct of the Matter-Antimatter reactions is infact a slightly radiated version of Ionized Dycanium (the difference from Ionized Dycanium versus regular is that it remains unstable until it has been restablized to its standard version through a subatomic resequencing).

So instead of God Ships... You propose the ability to 'create' God Ships...

If Plan A doesn't work, it's normal to try Plan B...

i would really like to see extra resources in the game, 1337_64M3R said. but obviously the resources used to create such powerful ships should be quite rare.
eg: 20 Dycanium and 20 Uronium is used in constructing a fed Sovereign, then that Sovereign should be able to take out 2 tactical cubes(while under fire from both cubes) and still have only have its shields depleted after that battle(something to that effect). however in a typical map, with one player dominating all resources on that map, it should only be possible for that one player to get a total of say 500 Dycanium and 500 Uronium in an hour.
Im sure this will lead to many battles being fought over for just these rare resources. with rare resources being able to really change the tide of any battle.
what u think optec?

um i can tell you what he will say no why does everyone think that the sovereign is underpowered

i never said that a sovereign was underpowered. was just using it as an example. ok when anyone sees the word "sovereign" in my post, just replace with

Way to yank a Warcraft name there and think you could sneak it by, Gamer

Humm. And what if those rare resources would simply allow additional upgrades? The federation could get a 5% life support upgrade which will only be payable with a small amount of these rare resources.
Romulans could get a 5% speed upgrade, Klingons may have another special weapon for Negh'Var or a 5% sensor-range bonus. Borg could get a module which slightly increases the stats of a ship (except for regen), Dominion also should get a very special prototype which following ships will only use normal resources, but still would be very expensive. I thought of a Design like a third support ship.

new resources would be good give more uniqueness to sum races
EDIT
I've been playing warhammer Dawn of War recently. there way of getting powerfull units is quite good. what they do is make you capture certain locations called relics which give you access to the strongest units but you have to keep the points secure coz the enemy can recapture them on you

well perhaps the rare resources could be used to make uber powerful ships and further research
im sure theres other things that the rare resources could be used for.
Maybe the romulans could say used 50 Dycanium and 50 Uronium(considering in most games that a typical player could obtain say 100 Dycanium and Uronium) to construct a kamikaze ship that when it attacks it blows its self up creating a huge explosion say 1/4 of the screen size that completely wipes out everything within that radius?
lots of possibilities for these rare resources...

Very limited resources used for a kamikaze-ship.... that doesn't even make much sense for the Jem'Hadar in my view...
The devs most probably won't do that. In Optecs own words "we wont introduce another resource",
which can be found in that topic:
Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Rule of Acquisition No. 202: The justification for profit is profit
Most planned npc-trading and interaction will based on supply-trading (as far as ideas go by now), not on additional resources.

At the risk of sounding like I don't know as much canon as I'd like to think I do.....is there a Kul Tiras system? It reminds me of something from the Warcraft universe instead of Star Trek.
