A Borg Cube when split into 8 smaller ones has a much larger surface area though Mimesot  :blink: . It would be very hard in any case to rationalize how smaller vessels can take more hits unless they had a phenomenal shield strength increase when having a smaller surface volume (aka, surface volume decreases linearly, and shield strength increases with some power function). That would of course mean that nobody but the most insane races would build anything larger than a Runabout or Defiant, right? :P

Dominus, you are absolutly right. I'm an idiot. I thought of a cube splitting in 8 and estimated with 3 parts. Huge LOL at myself.

we all remember when the founder amped up the runabout's shields to be resistant to the defiants weapons. funny thing is the defiant was in another part of the solar system and weapons worked at that distance, but tractors didnt, and they had to warp to catch the runabout.
