Greetings All!
I just want to first say thank you for this mod. You have brought the love back for A2 by making Romulans the stealth wizards they always were meant to be. If this is only beta with more to come, the final product will be nothing less than incredible.
With that said, I'd like to throw out some ideas for this mod. Some of them might have been mentioned before and/or thought of by you guys to be in the final product, but I want to make sure
1. Random map: I don't know anyone elses feelings on this, but I love random settings on all my games. I just like the mystery of "what's out there". Maybe there is something wrong with my game, but I can't seem to get it to work in advanced options, but there is still a button for it. Will this be in the final version?
2. Non-player races and mercs: I was wondering if you could give a round-a-bout # of these in the final product. Also, just for me on my wish list, I would love to see the Cardassians and Ferengi on this list. They are two of my favs.
3. Buyable weapons: I know that you can hire mercs at a special station, but what about weapons? I was thinking about this and might have come up with a solution:
- Few weapons. There doesn't have to be a large amount, maybe around 5 different, but useful, weapons. I have only played FO a little, but I have noticed that there are no "big bomb" weapons like the shockwave or phoenix(sp?). Maybe these could be it along with the genesis device. You could make each one different by cost or effect they have. For example, the genesis device isn't powerful in destructive force(only half damage to stations), but b/c of organic particles in space, this new genesis device could spawn an organic lifeform that causes havoc in area that it expoldes.
- Ferengi Munitions Depot - this could be the base where you get these weapons at. The ferengi are like the goblins in Warcraft 3, so it only seems fitting
- Credits. For balancing purposes b/c these weapons would be so powerful, you could make the cost be in credits(2 or 3). This makes a buyer think twice if they actually want these weapons in their strategy.
- Avatars. Make the weapon slots for these weapons only on avatars and make the weapons a "one time only". This could also balance as well b/c if you buy a weapon and put it on your avatar and use it, you lose the avatar AND the weapon. You would have to start over again in making a new avatar and buy the weapon over again.

Most of thsese ideas have been adressed and it has been said before that WMD's will not be included.
The Cardies will be NPC and the ferengie will not be a playable race...
As i said most of those things have been adressed...

Yep, the random map feature is disabled in Fleet Operation - or at least it does not work - we are working on it to get it up an running for the final
The Cardassians and the Ferengis will be NP Races, which means they will be accessable as non player AIs on maps or as mercenaries or perhaps a neutral station
I also had a similar idea about buyable weapon systems or other technologies
well for beta3 there will be the basic NPR and neutral stuff, so i can go deeper into that topic with beta4
but that idea is very interesting
by the way, the avatars are no selectable units. you chose on at game start and it modifies your tech tree, grants you unique units, technologies and bonuses. They are some kind of sub-race for the main race you select from the beginning (interesting for multiplayer: your opponent does not no which avatar you chose)

I was trying to be friendly and jus telling him what everyone else has been told about similar things.
I didnt say that buyable weapons was a bad idea i said that weapons of mass destruction had been adressed.

Okies, let's all get back on topic....I'd love to see single-player missions that are awesome for a change. Like a whole campaign for each race. And I mean, not just shoot'em'up missions, but missions that follow a greater storyline...After everything you guys have pulled off so far, this should be a walk in the park!

2 more quick questions:
1. Where is the discussion on the weapons of mass destruction? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Maybe I'm going blind
2. Will there be tech alliances? This would be cool for certain avatars you choose to support. You could make some of the NPC races the alliances. Ex: you are the Dominion and you choose to support Founder A. Founder A's tech tree has a research option of an alliance with the Cardassians. If you choose Founder B, you might get the option for an alliance with the Breen. You could just make a few avatars and NPC races with this option, just to keep it interesting.(PS: sorry in advance if this has been said before
)
