The issue is that you can build up to four additional shipyards which look exactly the same. Also there are up to three different versions of one kind of ship, which are built in three different shipyards (eg. Defiant - default, romulan, klingon).
This is very confusing and does not feel right. I am sorry I have to say that, but despite the rest of the mod game!, this feature is imho very ill-conceived.
The solution could be like this:
How about replacing all four shipyards with one single research station?
Instead of mixed tech ships, there could be mixed tech upgrades. Of course each one of these upgrades is still only accessable if you are allied with the related species.
Furthermore, if you reseached an upgrade for a specific ship, all other mixed tech upgrades for that ship would be inaccessable. This way you wouldn´t have an overpowered cloakable defiant with antimatter mines (which actually would be a cool combination if it would be well balanced).
By the way:
There is also an issue, I recognized when i fired the Intrepids special torpedo: It has no hit feedback, it simply vanishes after hitting the target. It does not have to be that giant shockwave from original Armada 2´s artillery weapon, but it should show an explosion which is at least large enough to see if the view is zoomed out max.

Mixed-Technology is being reworked, and you can expect a new system soon [sup]tm[/sup]
Many weapons have not yet been converted into their new form - you can expect that weapons like the Tricobalt Torpedo will receive their upgraded (explosive) equivalent in upcoming patches

Mixed-Tech is being redone, it has been on to-do for a while*. 1 yard per race is preferable though, it just needs something to make it easy to tell which is which. Aside from looking at the tooltip, that is.

Will it actually be of use in MP ?
As it is Ive never seen mixed tech used successfully in a MP game, any time I see it used it's by a player who is going to get creamed due to lack of ships/funds.
As for the earlier mixed tech tech station idea, prehaps just add the mixed tech research to the research station with the regular upgrades for that ship class, but require researching mixed tech before they are usable, then just add the upgrades to all ships of that class. IE: Defiant could get cloak and mine (cant use both at once).
Then take the mixed tech spefefic ship types and move them to the regular tech tree or remove from the mod.

theres a replay where miranda IIs get used nicely, they are awesome. i have seen mixed tech used in games effectively, but its definitely not often enough. it its mainly restricted to the most useful, such as miranda II, edjen, saieiiehir (spelt something like that), dread, cloakable defiant or mine laying defiant (both of which are very useful for skipping chassis 3 if u dont need sovvies/phalanges), and adaptors for reduced damage

True, the mixed tech defiants are good for that.
But past that you never see them used, because by and large if you try to use them, you die (or are stomping the oponent).

actually i used cloaker defiants for harassment once. they seriously pwn, they murder miners with pulses, are very fast, and have a strong ability to take fire, so turrets wont get them. they are almost perfect for harassment.

True, but by the time you have them you usualy will have a swarm of ships.

Heretic!! Saber's are quite useful for harassment.

yep, we are redesigning mixed-tech especially to be also usefull in multiplayer (including 1vs1, not just sharing tech with an ally)

If you get a decent number of them, or just want to spook an enemy into caring then yeah, but unless you get more than a normal size raiding party you cant kill even rom miners THAT fast with them.
Personaly I'd rather have monsoons, can get out faster, and if you sit on the proxy torp you can possibly tag a ship while it's decloaking. So much fun to watch a ship explode as it decloaks.
