I Am not speculating that they were wiped out.  The Admins have said that they are no longer a significant power in the galaxy.  Any way I'm not going to say they "wern't good badguys" but They were cruddy in Stock A2.  IMO they shouldn't get a full race, because if it wasn't for the Dominion in the first place, they would have been wiped out by the Klingons.  IMO They should nothing more then a couple of ships in the dominion Avatar, but nothing more.  Any Way, lets not Hijack the thread.  It isn't about why other races are better, it is about what you think of the one the Admins have chosen.

Cradasians the greatest enemy?....They were the lapdogs of the dominion. Though I do admit Their architecture was very cool but..gr no way are they the greatest. Gul Dukat was a great Vilain but the cardasians were like a race that tried to be the big dogs and failed and then sold out.

Matter of opinion I guess.

And yes to get back on topic I want the noxter. They sound interesting. The noxter allready sound epic. The alpha quadrant versus swarms of noxter.....EPIC

Well don’t forget that they had just lost the Obsidian order in the attack on the founder’s home world, the military had just been overthrown in a violent civil war and the Klingons where infiltrated by changelings at the time. So both organisations that had defended Cardassia for over three century’s were gone, and don’t forget the inept Dukat was the leading military adviser at the time….  Under more favourable circumstances they were able to reach a stalemate with Federation and survive an eighteen year war against the Klingons in that nebular incident.  Also they were by far the most enjoyable race to play as in BOTF.      :whistling: :)

I doubt I'll play Noxter much (unless they're significantly different from their previously playable incarnation, not least in terms of gameplay) but hey, bring on the diversity. I have to say I'm a lot iffier on the Iconians, being as that they were long since wiped out circa TNG and it was heavily hinted that their gateway technology eliminated their need for starships. But hey, I haven't seen the Fleet Ops storyline yet, and I can't say I've been let down by the staff yet  ^-^

Oh, now come on people, what is wrong with the Noxter? They are cool looking, and I personally like the idea. I think the only con is that they are totally made up. However, I think that to explain their extsistence, I made up this little story.

Once, Species 8472 began to experiment with biotechnology again, to try to evolve their species to be more powerful to try and destroy the Borg again. They created a new series of ships. They started to become more and more independent, eventually Species 8472 scientists declared them a whole new species. They called "Noxter" meaning "creature" in their language. 8472 bioships continued to watch and study the Noxter as they grew and evolved. However, the Noxter started to grow annoyed of their presence. Finally, they chased the research ships away, and badly wounded a battleship. Infuriated, 8472 superiors wished to have the Noxter obliterated. The scientists pleaded to leave the Noxter alone, not to set back such enormous effort and discoveries. Eventually, the superiors agreed, and the Noxter were simply left alone. Since they were not attacked, the Noxter did nothing violent back. The Noxter later learned of their links to 8472 and felt sorry for their rash actions. They left fluidic space to seek out a living in normal space...
How d you guys like that? Hooray for Noxter!!!!!  :D

Personally I think the noxter have a ton of potential, they have an almost Zerg like feeling to them, and wouldn't mind if they had a kind of creep to build buildings in, the mother could generate a nebula field that only noxter can build in. The turrets could be just nebula generators, then could evolve into weapons. Yeah I know it's a total Zerg rip off but I've always like the way Zerg operate. And this would be totally unique to the trek universe.

I too love the Zerg and am very interested in seeing a race similar to them in a space/star trek theme.  Personally I can't wait to see what the devs have in store for the Noxter and to anyone who disapproves of their inclusion, as already stated, you don't have to play as or against the Noxter, but they will be available if you so choose.

I really don't understand why some people are so against original races being added to the game. Sure the canon ST races are awesome, but we have them in virtually every trek mod so it's wonderful to see new additions to the Trek universe. What's even better is when they do not follow the traditional "Starbase, Shipyard, Research, Advanced Yard" pattern that so many races are stuck with. I am especially pumped up about the Noxter because by everything I've read and seen about them they play a'lot like an Ant colony in space, and I happen to be a huge fan of a quirky little RTS called Empire of the Ants. I've always wanted to translate the structure of an ant colony into space, and FO already proved my hopes possible. The coding will be not only prove to make this particular game a blast to play, but imagine all the new flexibility the modding community will have when it goes public.
The Noxter are original, add depth, and will give modders tons of new tools to work with. Sure the Breen, Cardassians, and other classic trek races are good, but I'd rather have something fresh and new instead of the 100th Cardassian re-do.
Just my opinion of course...  :innocent:

The noxter will be one of the most inetersting additions imo. The cannon of star trek is search for new life forms. Since FO is in the future of the star trek series, i think it's safe to consider a canon thing the discovery of new races such as the noxter. If they were to do a show tomorrow, and the first alien race that pops out would be noxter, everyone would instantly love them and want them in. I like the fact that the devs aredoing what every script writer did for the show - come up with something new and inovative in terms of races. I totaly support the noxter, and u really can't wait to play with them. My only hopes is that we ( the community ) along with the devs can come up with some really cool and uniq mechanics so they would just feel alot different than the other races. I'm so tired of cardassiand or sona or all the other races, the every other mod has made and remade a 1000 times. I like new stuff, inovation and suprises. So go devs ! Give us a noxter race like never before :P .

In order to get people to focus on the topic at hand and provide a completely honest vote (sorry if this sounds arrogant or something i dont mean it that way  ), I point out that there WILL be a cardassian race, and it should arrive soon (definitely before 3.0.8 since it looks like itll be a while). Just look at the final frontier thread in the modding section. BTW i votew yes for the noxter

yep, there are no links between Species 8472 and the Noxter (and i don't think those two would be happy friends :) )
