What do you guys think about putting in non-trek ships into say the Federation faction? maybe an Omega-class destroyer from B5 or Battlestar Galactica/Star Destroyer and modify them so they use Federation tech? maybe one ship from the other sci-fi franchises. maybe split them between the avatars, give mayson the Galactica and Risner the Omega maybe give the Star Destroyer to the Dominion, make them either really really expensive or a warp-in that takes a long time. shouldn't even have to worry about ranks either. just a thought, i know there is a BSG mini-mod in development, perhaps they could release a just battlestar itself. in my stock build of A2 I have an Omega-class destroyer that has pulse cannons and two standard phasers, i also have a valhalla-class battlestar, could i convert those to fleet ops? how would i do that?

What I think?

This is a Star Trek game... so NO! For your personal Mod... do what you want but get the hands off of Fleet Ops!

that is not planned

Most standard a2 mods will work in FO, and if not you can use Blades new stock a2 mod as a base.    For the galactica and valhalla, you should be able to find them else where, and I believe chiletrek might have some.  I would normally say msfc, but those models are majestics, and he has recently undergone yet another attack so he reserves his mods for his closer friends to avoid theft.  Chilitrek may be able to help you get those models though.

And there is a guide on how to add ships to FO.

ok, but don't i have to convert textures and sods and what about build buttons, i think i can do odfs myself but thats about the extent of my modding experiance. I can find the valhalla on Armada2files.net along with the Omega and Star Destroyer, and i was talking about a personal build someone could put these out just for personal mods like the 'buildable warp-in' mod

You will need new buildbuttons and wirframes to fit in with the rest of the game (you can play without them or using the original buttons), ship textures and the sod are fine. Usually, though I've seen at least 2 sods that didn't work.

ok thanks i think i can do without the shipimages thing though right? thats another name for wireframes isn't it?

The wireframe is the miniimages texture file, the ShipImages folder is where the images for the AdmiralsLog goes. Neither of which are really needed, they just make it look better.

The External Modding Resources page of the guide has a couple that should help.

You can find my older models in mods like the BSG Half Race Mod and Adm_Z BSG Addon that he is currently working on, but you do need to be a active member on MSFC to be able to access the downloads section.

My newer files have been password protected for my own protection. Due to the reasons Adm_Z has mentioned earlier.

If I finish my star wars mod in any kind of decent time period, I"ll do a toutorial on making FO buttons and wireframes.  It really isn't that hard once you get the hang of it.  I always thought I could never do it until I just tried it myself, and sure enough, it is easier than it looks.

I just starting working on brinigng Babylon 5 stuff into my Fleet Ops mod - so far, Babylon 5, the Omega, and Advanced Omega are working just fine.  There were no issues with the SOD's or textures - and since these were the animated models, I expect all the others will be okay too.

I have to say, Fleet Ops makes this stuff look really good - you can give Starfuries to the Omegas, and the weapon impacts look great on ships that don't have shields.
