I don't think we need to go over the top with new Federation designs. I mean, this is still a Starfleet vessel.

The consistency in design aesthetics is something I've always liked about Star Trek. I don't mind the disparity in Star Wars, where capital ships and starfighters and vehicles are all built by different galactic corporate conglomerates and marketed to the various interstellar powers and whatnot, but in Trek, it seems most of the major powers design their own ships (or at least contract design work out to the same people every time) - corporations play a much smaller role in Trek than in Star Wars. And that's something we need to keep in mind.

The Constitution-class was a good ship. The Excelsior-, Ambassador-, Galaxy-, Sovereign-, and Intrepid-classes, all good ships. So, why fix what isn't broken? The consistency is nice. The potential for sexy, tough, new starships following that basic design profile is virtually unlimited. We don't need "roll bars" or bajillions of nacelles or hulls that look like Star Destroyers (or DustBusters, for that matter).

Just my take.

I think that is what is whong with the Monsoon.  It is just not cannon fed.

The Federation using odd looking designs is perfectly canon, as long as it doesn't go overboard.

I agree, a good example would be the defiant, but I personally have never built and used a monsoon in game.  Just my opinion. :innocent:

okay, here it is.
like i said im not very skilled in paint, and my ms3d is gone for now.
still a side view is missing, but its intendet to be a bit more flat than the original galaxy. the nacelles are suposed to be turned a 25° to fit the angle of the nacelle connection.

You know... I actually like the seperated star drive section better as its own ship! *don't shoot me*

All I meant was that as a completely different ship class, the star drive section might look good  :innocent:

Other than that, it looks good as a Galaxy refit.

my ship is intended to be a galaxy "refit" (though it wouldnt really fit in the antares yards ^^)
the dawnstar was intended as a ambassardor "refit"

Hmm, I did not know that.  Is the Dawnstar cannon, or from a book or something or is it just a fan model?

Really? The textures look fleet ops IMO.  The model really looks like a STO ship.
