Just some ideas to throw them out there.

Large moons/asteroids: allows two miners to mine at the same time.

Mixed moons (i.e. 50% di / 50% tri): - A moon consisting of both dilithium and tritanium. (would need a way to specify which material the miner wants to grab.)

"Deep deposit" moons (50% slower mining - due to greater difficulty in extracting material):  Miners mine at 50% speed.

Attributes could be mixed. I.e. you could get a large deep deposit moon, which would effectively cancel each other out.

Nice ideas .

I have a few ideas too:

Ketracel moon: only can be mined for supply, but supply mining is far faster than on other moons.

Dilithium/Tritanium Asteroid fields: asteroid fields that can be mined, some for tritanium, some for dilithium, some for both.

I like the mixed moon, but instead of having to specify which resource you wanted the ship to mine, couldn't it just pick up a random mix of both?

And my own little variation on deep-deposit:  Unstable moon, whereas the ship should be encouraged to mine 'carefully.'

sounds interesting. maybe a moon that can be blown up by sustained weapons fire. so you cant capture the moon from the enemy, but u can deny them it as well lol.

I like the idea of blowing them up (I hate invincible anything), but I can already hear disagreements with the concept just waiting to be posted.

Well it should be really hard to kill, if it's mostly made out of solid Tritanium/Ketracel. Dilithium/Ketracel moons might be easier to kill, though I don't think they'd blow up from weapons fire (Dilithium is just a crystal after all.) Maybe give the moons enormous health like that of a Sphere.

Agreed on the invincible anything argument, I wanna shoot me an asteroid field  :woot:.

That would be interesting idk how the AI would handle the loss of its moons but it would be fun for multiplayer

yeah, it would be kinda hard to balance, but I like it alot :woot:

Personally, I think we should get rid of the infinite moons(unless selected)  having certain rich deposits, or mixed ones would add to gameplay, and would force people to not turtle.  they would have to go and get resources before they were all used up.  It would also make games shorter :D

The AI has been said by the devs to "simulate mining..." Don't think it would impact the AI a lot.
