as you all know to mine tritanium or dilithum you place a mining station on the map and get freighters to truck back and foward to collect and deposite the supplys.

how about this.....if it is possible can you "colonise" a resource moon and build a structure on it that way and process the resource that way. instead of the old way.

Graphical Side: like take a type E planetoid and add your blue or orange (or possibly both) effects to it in fissures within it.

How to colonise it: the same way you would have colonised a planet in normal armada 2, using a colony ship or a ship equipted to do the job....

how to build mining features: in the normal armada you could build shields on a planet for protection. you could use the same method to create a mining colony directly on the moon, simply add the button to the build function of the planetoid. you could keep the shield function for its protection as a normal mining station would still have shields.

i always thought that a planet or planetoid should have some orbital defense weapons on em. or just planetary defense facilities on them

Well it could be a nice addition, this way can stay too :)
I dont think that is possible though :-S

some of the new races will also include new ways of mining. for example the ciadan build small spherical bases arround dilithium moons to obtain resources. I think we will stick with the freighter system for the "usual" races :)

Both ways would be great to have, adding some diversity B)

while ur on the subject of mining, is there anyway you could increase the amount a freighter can collect as i've found that since only 1 can mine a moon, resources don't come in fast enough especially dilithium, even if i've got 10 freighters per moon, it just annoys me that the AI can build loads of **** while i'm still researching chassis 2 lol

what about doing something with holograms and mining colony as seen on voyager i think it was, that way it won't cost crew will it? :D

why would you want to build to freighters to a moon if 4 the most efficient number to mine?

sorry? i don't understand the question

i think he said 4 freighters per moon give the highest efficiency rating.
and if you want more ore per cargo bay, edit the RTS.cfg file, but back it up so you can play with people who don't have self modified config files.

ah i see! well usually at the start of a game i put around 7 to 10 frieghters to get resources in continuously, haven't really experimented with the number of freighters i use!

the RTS.cfg file - i must be losing some brain cells to not think of that before lol

er... you can just edit the individual freighter's odf, thats what i did, i think thats a bit less risky :P

mining frighters of your race can only have one beam per race on a moon at any one time, you can que up four so when one is done mining the other starts but you can only get one frighter to mine at a time.
