I think the E’Djen Scrambling Drone is pretty close to that.

If mines/mine fields become more prominent I'd like to see some way to clear those minefields other than send in scouts to be blown to bits.

scrambling drone is even more awesome.

and this idea doesn't have to be for klingons. it could be for any race. and the scrambling drone has a time limit to match its pure awesomeness. less effective mines would need no timer.

How about radiation mines or mines that damage subsystems

1st hit 40% damage to shield generator

2nd hit 40% damage to life support

Etc. With luck you survive2-3 mines without a subsystem failing, but with bad luck a subsystem gets destroyed.

another interesting idea :)

i'd like more things that hurt special energy. currently a prime sphere is the best you get. although qawdujs can piss off rhienns a little.

How about mines which emit a dampening field. First it drains special energy, then shields and finally life support. To make it really interesting the effects could vary on vessel size/system value.

It would have to be an effect which goes both ways though. Whoever is in the general vicinity will be affected.

sounds good. there are plenty of ideas to get out of this area, different mines with different effects.

That would be a nice way to limit the power of the mines without reducing damage. I'm in favor.

Also there's already the E’Djen Scrambling Drone
What I was trying to  get  across was a system where  you have a Tractor beam generator, Repulsor beam or Gravametric beam generator / target desinator station  controling several  mines  around a set distance from the station.  operating  simular to the  Romulan singularity  station and turrets or a Domion  Hyperspace sensor / Perimiter  combo units.

Remotely powered could work, but for the romulan singularity it's about buildings and here we're talking about mines.

The power could be supplied though. but the difference in size is what worries me. It's be like holding an Aircraft carrier in place with a rowboat and this potentially indefinite since power is supplied from outside source.

On a side note: Mines on a Perimeter sounds like an awfully bad idea. The Perimeter is already one of the strongest, if not THE strongest, defense structure in the game and mines would add to that.

Explosive or "holding mines" doesn't matter because both would multiply the Perimeter power immensely.
