Okay, I was thinking of this. Make the easy AI like the current medium AI. Make the medium AI like the current merciless AI. And then this is what you do for the new Hard AI.
AI Names:
// Current New
Normal (Easy) Standard Fleet
Hard (Medium) Enhanced Fleet
Merciless (Hard) Adapting Superior
The new "Adapting Superior", exactly how hard is it? Well, take for instance this. If you were to be the Feds (like if you had Dominus' experience), and you were playing against the Borg... Resistance really is Futile.
This AI level is going to bring Flt Ops to a peak of strength. This AI would be constantly adapting against your every strategy. So you would really need force to punch it. This can really test anyone's skills because you talking about fighting a highly adaptive AI that can always have enough fire power to bring you to your knees. So be on a look out, because they'll use every weapon at their disposal!
So who is favor of the real test? To see who really is a pro?

Just saying we should make an adaptive AI is esier said than done. It's not that we don't want it, we would love, but almost impossible with the current game engine.

I'd just like to point out that this has already happened once...

yep, ai redos are on our todo list, but thats nothing eas to start with. perhaps some time in teh future

i think one elevation in the name list is enough. it's not like we can currently just 'boost' the ai with something else than cheating

Well maybe we should cheat, for example Ai has double resources on whats collected, makes it harder (a lot harder)

i'm not sure if its funny or sad.
a few patches back when AI was pretty hard, ppl were like "mommy, mommy i just played my first FO game vs hard AI, of course it was hard not medium or easy cuz i have a mighty brain and super powers and all, and lost. i played again and lost. mommy tell those ppl that something is wrong with this game."
my personal opinion was to kill somebody to set an example but the devs acted maturely, listened and nerfed the AI. now its "after 100 games or so i can beat hard (Merciless) AI hands down. something is wrong with this game". just dont play the AI, its a waste of time imo (like playing computer games isnt
). always has been and always will be.

Isn't there an option in the "Advanced" section that does that? Increase or decrease the amount of resources and/or the cost of units/upgrades/stations for the AI players?

yep
the next patch will add a few new tweaks for the ai, to make it more fun. the problem is, that an ai is expected to build everything, cause it would be boring if it always skips something. The next patch will give the ai access to both avatars at the same time
combine norways with phalanxes!

Okay.... that is cheap. Where is the balance in that if you yourself cannot do that without capturing a constructor?
First you all about balance and then you drop this bomb on us. Which side are you on? I dunno but I must make sure I have my defense ready. :shuriken:
But if you plan on topsy-turby like that... then you shouldn't even bother with balance at all! Lets give the romulans Reman ships! Lets give the Borg full pledged adaption making them almost invincible! Lets give the Feds temporal technology! Lets give the Dominion subspace weapons that can wipe out an entire map! Lets throw balance out the window and maul it on the streets and burn its remains!
Do we really want to turn the scale of balance upside down people? All I asked was an adaptable AI that doesn't cheat and now this!
This thing is really overclocked....

Gamer that change was announced ages ago. The AI has nothing on human versus human balance, and this is so people also stop complaining about the it always being one avatar.

oh yea, this will really be a balance killer, a nail in the coffin, terminator 3 for the terminator series ...
btw i didnt know 'adaptive' AI is done by a finger snap. i guess those 2 classes i had at the university about it and those developers around the world struggling to make a good AI for a rts (and are yet to succeed cuz i havent seen a human like AI in rts so far) are a complete fail then...
