Myles, try it out yourself. 1v3 Merciless on Central Point. I suggest vs Borg.
But of course, vs Mayson and his uber turrets every other race sucks at turtling, even dominion and their perimeter. I actually had an easier time with Romulans than with Dominion / Klingon.

thats not what were talking about, were talking about a wave/horde mode. not a standard instant action battle where the enemy starts with the same ships as you. in a wave mode they would start with ships (the first wave)
dominion turtling is good if u can get the peri. as is romulan if u can set up several of the rom turret and get a wall going.
but the key thing to remember is that fleetops turrets arent meant to work alone, you should always have fleets to support turrets. as no turret can match the range of a hsa/teuto. and even bombers can be a problem with their special, hit and run. recharge with c11s, rinse and repeat.
fed turrets may be pretty strong, but even they cant match fleets.

Well i already actually had this working ages ago in my previous mod using code already made available by the devs and a specific map type. Its shockingly easy to do and create.
Problem is the fact it requires a multi player map so somebody needs to be the endless wave of ships (though he cant actually die) and someone else has to be the player who will eventually die.
I had a test map of fed vs borg, fed being limited with only starting untis and borg having endless waves coming every 5 minutes (dominus played the borg and wiped my arse)
I can easily make the Earth idea someone had on here and i had a wolf 359 modern one made. But again was no way to get in to work in a single player skirmish but i think it brings an interesting way of playing multiplayer to see how someone would play with unlimited units.

Sounds really cool RedManMark. Is this the assault map you started years ago and was very secretive about?

The devs might be able to do something about that, maybe a script for the ai to follow or something.
Either way perhaps it could be ba;anced by making all the defenders officers or vets plus some turrents and a limited ammount of resources.
Only give the other player a limited ammount of ships and weak ones to start with and slowly build up to larger and more ships.

And you would start with some amount of dil and trit and it would become more with the ships you destroy

I don't know if the AI can be fixed with a script as they have pretty much said the AI needs an overhaul, might be able to force assault maps to appear in instant action though.
as for the rest of your ideas, the vet thing is easy and the dil/tri in return for killing would require changing ship .odfs but probably possible.
on this note i think as im looking to get back to modding this seems like a simple little mod to do so who wants to beta test with me since i will need another to be either defender or obliterator
