Admittedly, that might be wrong. Closer together in this case was better. When I did the separated thing, I just lost miserably. Closer together I still lost, but at least the fed ai helped me because it had to. I put the fed ai in between me and the ay's at 5 o'clock. But the ai did shit-all. Never did a major helpful offensive, except for when I started a huge one. Even then, it waited 5 min til the fight was either won, or I had lost so much waiting for it it didn't matter because then I had to retreat.
Well, Romulan was easy win. Federation ally was a miserable game.
I'm not even sure what you could do at the moment to win it on your own or with feds. Rommies just actually did stuff, they built ships, and got to warbirds and made offensives. With feds who knows. I don't even remember seeing a descent or teuto ...
The map is to big to send a raiding fleet against two merci's.
Perhaps a smaller map, or actually go counter intuitive. Only face 1 ai, but put it closer together.
Eventually you just can't go to high with what you are facing, i.e. 3-4 dominion ai is just not possible. But 1 Ai is doable for sure. So somewhere you have to find the even balance. Or even just get down the 1 ai dominion.
Get rid of the Rom ally, and the 2nd merci. My original posts should still work against 1 merci.
