Hello all and yes im new to this forum.  but i have some idea/features to share for future installments.

First off i think with the star base there should be some sort of retro-fit to specialize the star bases.  for example you could turn a standard star base into a battle base with more weapons and fire power, but in exchange that base cant build any ships.  :D

And i know people have discussed this before but i think the Galaxy-class starship should be buildable but have some sort of limit on how many.  And yes i know there was a limited number of Galaxy-class ship in the TV series, but wouldnt the Dominion War have given the federation a huge incentive to build more?  I say this because you can build sovereign-class ship in Fleetops and as far as im aware of in Star Trek there are only two at anyone.  :ermm:

Ill probably think of more ideas as i play more of Fleetops, but thats all for now.

Starbase specialization has been asked before - currently Redmanmark is working on a trial run that should be done sometime after the holidays (hopefully) which might be used to petition the devs if it turns out well :) .

Before saying anymore about the Galaxy class or other requests, please read the Apocrypha or FAQ's of The Main Page - The Hitchhiker's Guide to Fleet Operations . The Fleet Ops storyline is not the same as mainstream Star Trek.  ^-^

The Galaxy will never, ever be buildable. Ever.

I personally think that the starbases are perfect as they are, except that in my opinion klingon bases should get three weapon upgrade possibilities and only one shieldupgrade and vise-versa for the romulan bases.

The refit possibility of the star bases are perfect how they are but the bases look ugly.
Maybe the devs can rework the appearance....(e.g. the fed base does not really look fed-like....)?

The starbases look fine to me.  The federation starbase looks like starbase 375, so I think they're accurate enough.

That's also about 10x as big ... and therefore moderately impractical on a new battlefield I think

but they build lots of labs, spacedocks etc on a new battlefield?  :whistling: B)

Sometimes you have to remember this is a game, and as such, it can't be completely accurate to Star Trek.  The starbase from DS9 is smaller, fits better into the FO timeline, and works better for gameplay purposes.

maybe its better not to use star bases but smaller space stations...
they could be built much faster as any star base....

That's why the Federation in FO uses outposts instead of starbases, there is a literally huge difference between them.^^

Starbases will only make sense if used as map objects.

As map units, they'd still attack you, even if you're the Federation...

I never wrote they wouldn't do and in fact, that's not the point of what I wrote in my last post.
My last post was about size, not about "relations"  ;)

Size-wise, the Spacedock-type from the TMP-Movies might be viable for building (with a big build time and cost, obviously). It's the same design as Starbase 74, but a lot smaller.

While "Spacedock" is an awesome idea and has actually been made already, it simply is too big to fit into the game correctly.  I mean ... Spacedock in the Show went through a couple of "misfires" in terms of it's size when the Excelsior and the Enterprise-A are seen many times leaving the actual docking doors (ST: III, ST IV, ST: VI).  Yet the Enterprise-D is also seen entering through the docking doors.  Now the D is vastly larger than the Constitution Class and the Saucer alone would never fit, but they did it anyway.

I think that since the model was at least made for A1 (and it looks AWESOME) it might not be a bad idea to add as a map object so that people could include it on maps if they so choosed.  It really would have to be a pre-placed map object though because of it's monstrous size.  Same with the DS9 station model.  it's just so big that it's impractical as anything but a map object.
