This is the Olympic class, the Federations hospital ship used during both Borg incursions and the Dominion war to rescue crews from damaged ships. Looking much like the Daeledus (or whatever) class.

The basic idea is if you have one of these Olympic classes in transporter range of one of your damaged ships, it can do one of the following:

1. Beam the rest of the crew of a damage ship that has lost life support on board the Olympic, if it's within transporter range.

2. (more realistic but not what the Olympic actually does), Automatically repair a ships damaged life support if that ship is within transporter range.

3. (the best idea but prolly impossible), Make a new stat for ships, that if a ship is shot a few crew members are injured, and below where it says the crew members it shows a ticker for injured crew members. On a brand new ship this is 0 but during a battle this goes up, and if you lose shields goes very high. The idea is that if you have an Olympic class near it can beam the injured crew away from the ship and save them.

Now, once the injured crew is beamed from the damaged vessel and put on the Olympic, they are actually returned to the crew pool instead. The Olympic never actually gets the crew.

Or you could make the ticker on the Olympic go up to 1,000 and once it hits that it can't carry any more injured. Then you have to take it to a starbase so they can get healed and returned to the crew pool. Thats if you throw the damaged crew ticker in.

Any more ideas would be appreciated. Unlike Ewm I won't be voting in my own vote...

Maybe another idea, but I haven't thought this through yet...

Have the hospital ship emit some invisible "field" or, well, some auto-triggering special weapon without a sprite and without special energy use, which makes it unlikely that a hit kills crew on nearby ships or which restores life support if it fails (however that might be possible) - in short, prevent crew being killed on nearby ships/stations. That's not exactly what a hospital ship does, either, but I think it's good for gameplay.

khhmmm its a good idea, but theres just one problem: the crew arent really that important in FO and I almost never run out of crew, so in my opinion at least I wouldnt go through the trouble of dragging this ship along in combat, where it will only die :)
But if crew was more important.................................

......................it would be a really great idea :D

Has anyone played ST vs SW mod? In that mod pretty much every cap ship lost all it's crew before it exploded, if it was realistic like that (because most of the time the ship doesen't completely explode), then this would be an advantage. The Feds seem to lack behind other races because of their lack of super weapons. If crew was important then in fleet to fleet battles they would have the advantage.

Or if my injured crew ticker was implemented, and about half the crew was injured and a 4th killed by the time a ship was at 1% hull strength, there would be alot of wasted crew if the ship exploded.

what bout making it. not so much of a ship of mersy but a tool for winig.
you cood give it bio wepinds. and cand it carys lots of crow so it whood be handy in capchering ships/stabaces.

its wepind complament whood be week just phasers.
But the bie wepinds whood be usefull in killing the cowe of uther ships/stashons making tham darilact. thany you can use your coow to take tham over. or some thing like that.

well i just take preide in my idea. lol

ok, the new crew mechanics are implemented and tested. vessels do now lose a bit more crew if the shilds are down.
a quote from the v3 changelog:

Crew Mechanics
If a starships enters combat and gets hits on its hull it may lose crew. As soon as the crew drops below a certain limit (the limit differs from ship to ship and from race to race) it enters yellow crew state (the crew display turns yellow). If this vessel loses even more crew it enters red crew state (the crew display turns red).
If a vessel enters yellow crew state the repair rate of that vessel is slightly reduced and the rate of fire is reduced by half. If the vessels enters red crew state the time it takes to repair damage is even doubled and the combat capabilities of that vessel get down to a minimum.
The only exception to this rule is the Federation. A Federation vessels gets no repair rate reduction on yellow state and only half of the normal reduction on red state.

i do like the olimpic and dadulas classes and the olimpic can take the role of the akisaky and it can recrew ant transport its crew on to other ships and stations

hmm well i do like the idea of the olympic class working as a bio weapon ship would make sense but then again the crew transporter makes sense and it doesnt seem to be worth it though

FO Team: thanks for changing the crew dynamics around. Certainly by version 4 crew will be more valuable, right?

Lol a bio-weapon? 1 it's a hospital ship and 2 it's not a Romulan ship.

Yep i think the Federation wouldn't use bio weapons.. they are usually the ones who forbid them :)
