I'm with ewm on this one. The romulans need some extra sneaky-factor very badly. Since Praetor is correct about the mining beams, how about this:

A cloaked station that you could place at choke points or likely battlespaces on a map, full of Reikaransu marines (like the Tavara). It can transport without lowering shields, and here's the kicker: it has an area effect weapon (like all the fed special weapons) that LOWERS ENEMY SHIELDS. Sounds like fun, eh?

Doesn't make sense, why not just use a Tavara to do that?

Fine by me IF it costs 20 credits :P
Dude what u proposing is to damn strong, not only would it be a cloaked station full of marines BUT it could also bring down enemy sheilds at random  I mean really, -_-

What TB said and make it's shields go down when its cloaked, tricobalt torps will make a mess of it then. with the shields remaining ON while cloacked it has no weakness. the Scimitar reincarnated as a station :P

And as schimitar is also to strong to come into the game as a normal ship, this is to strong to be a normal station :P Maybe a special map unit or something, like those cardie turrets will be in future versions B)

i really think that a cloaked sensor station is what the romulans need; the ability to see your enemies without being seen, what is more romulan??? (it was the very first thing i moded into my Armada 2 game :) )

cloaked sensor station is a cool idea but you should have to research the cloak, that way once the station (with research) is destroyed the cloak disengauges. so you dont end up searching the map for those pesky loose ends, after everything else is destroyed. :)

It's so stupid, you don't build your stations in enemy space. You see ships with cloak, because their the ones that end up in enemy space.

no but you build them in neutral space which then becomes yours if you play your cards right :D

You arn't allowed to build stations in neutral space...

neutral space as in nobody controls it, thats the only place you can build.

and since the construciton ships are cloaked you could build sensor stations in enemy space (if you cloaked it fast enogh)

i've just remembered the steamrunners don't have the area damage tricobalts, they used to. :omg: those cloaking stations are gonna be one hell of a pain in the ass now  :D
people will lose their sanity just looking for them
