To start out with, I LOVE FLEET OPS V3 PR!!! WHOOOOO YAH!!!!!





Now that I have that out of my system, I have some bones to pick:



Romulans:


-No Shadow!
I know it probably wont be back, but deep in the bottom of my heart I was hoping it would be included. Oh well. Darn shame, though.

-You cant have the Shrike and the Griffin at the same time!!!
I know that this is more of a quip than a problem, but still, it icks me off.

-No phase cloak!
I loved that thing.

-Norexon is underpowered
It needs the extra kick that befits its next-gen but kickin' status.

-All romulan battleships
They just seem too... expendable.

-Romulan AI
It uses its ships in a very un-romulan way; i.e. suicide runs.



Klingons:


-K't'inga is underpowered
You'd think a 200-somthing meter long cruiser could outgun a B'rel...

-Qaw'duj class is underpowered
Its offence should be booted up to at least 20

-Klingon AI
It relies much to heavily on artillary, a very un-klingon type of ship



Dominion:


-V-type Battle Cruiser
VERY underpowered, should have the offence (and cost) raised

-No Cardassian avatar!!!
AHHHHHH!!!

-No shuttle trafic around stations
Surely even the dominion uses shuttles!

-Dominion AI
Doesn't swarm nearly enough, much too slow getting the heavy hitters



Federation:


-Still much too weak
Needs heavy hitters

-Akira is underpowered
needs an offence of AT LEAST 26

-Excelsior II
Not a very dangerous looking battlecruiser, slightly overpowered

-Galaxy is useless
Not worth crap

-Nebula is underpowered
Either get rid of the credit cost or give me some reason to build it.

-Needs another research station
Its just stupid having to get all techs and support upgrades from one place

-Sovy is underpowered
It has NO offensive punch compared to other ships its size. In fact, its outclassed in every department but life support and sensors.

-Descent is still here
And useless as ever. Underpowered as heck.

-Steamrunner is underpowered
If we have to pay credits for it, at least give it a punch.

-Norway and Canaveral BOTH need more systems value
Yet another weakness for the feds

-Remore slightly overpowered
Heck, it kills more then the Akira does

-Ships are just too darn expensive
Is they fight like crap, at least make 'em cheap

-Phalanx costs a credit
The feds FINALLY get a good battleship and you give it a CREDIT COST!?!?

-Still need good middle-of-the-line battlecruiser
I suggest the Achilles class

-No Prometheus!!!
Dam! Do you guys hate the feds or something?!?

-Canveral needs larger sensor range
My god, these are supposed to be SENSOR ships. Right now they're sensors are like foggy glasses on a blind man.

-Avalon sucks
Not only is the "fighter" the crappiest effect I have ever seen in Fleet Ops, its horribly underpowered, too! I have to pay 6 credits for THAT?!? (the perigrine model looks kinda cool, though) Is it REALLY that hard to have fighters as seperate units?

-Sabre still wrong
Something ramains... off... with the Sabre, but I cant put my finger on it.

-Torpedo Turret is underpowered
I gave up the PHALANX for the stupid thing. The least you could do is make it worth building...



And I think that about covers it. For now.

-Shadow was a good design I agree, I hope to see it in future releases of FO. As an avatar unit at least

-Yeah they are avatar units, we cant have everything now can we :P. Id like the Breen ships with the sensor station yet it isnt happening

-It does still exist for the Generix Dreadnought

-Norexan is perfect for what its designed to do, kill little ships with those huge pulses . About the shields, look how easily 2 of them were arsekicked in Nemesis, I dont need to say anything else :P

-Rom battleships are much cheaper than the battleships of the feds and Klingons(wont talk about dominion due to their outrages supply cost- they are balanced differently) So its only right they are weaker, plus u cant honestly expect a Dderidex to be much of a challenge to both NeghVar or Sovereign- its just an outdated design :P

-I actually think Romulan AI mimics the rommies pretty well in that they rely very much on their battleships and not so much on smaller ships. Also they are very passive at the beginning compared to Dominion or Klingon AI, which is also ok. I do not think it would be ok if they were even more passive though, they must take the battle to the player, otherwise the games could become borring :)

Klingons:


-K't'inga is underpowered

-This is also true, though I must say that it is a 1. support ships and other races support ships arent strong either ( C11, canaveral). The only exception are the rommies, but their support ship doesnt have any fleet supporting special weapons- it only helps itself, or 1 other ship.

-Yeah I agree with you on that, they can be VERY annoying with the arties lol. They do build a **** of a lot of small ships so thats ok

-Khmmm, thats a hard one. I cant really comment on the cost because the Dominion have different balancing and it costs a lot of supplies. But u are right, it does seem a bit weak. I think the strenght of its polaron beam should be raised a bit.
What bothers me more is that its beam looks EXACTLY the same as the one on the bug ship :S I would think the one on a battleship would be a bit "beefier" than the one on a destroyer lol. I should also mention that its special weapons are very strong :)

- The Dominion AI is roughly the same as the Klingon AI in that it uses a lot of small ships. Which is correct I think. They only use big ships as fleet support and the bugs is their backbone so that is fine as well :P

-If you havent figured out yet, Fed ships have big Defence value, Klingon Offence value, Rommies system value and Dominion ships are evenly balanced. I dunno what your complaining about :P

Somethings wrong with your game version dude. In my the Dominion hard AI kicked feds hard AIs arse :S

my only concern about the rommies is that the avatar that actually lowers the cost for the spy actually gets rid of the ships that uses it, so you only get the station to use it much later.

Yep, we "saved" many units for later avatars or features. The Nova Class and the famous Shadow Class are of course among them ;)

And yep, the Descent will get a design redo as the Canaveral already got, making it hopefully look much better then now :)

About all the AI questions and suggestions: The AI is one of the less developed topics in the v3 PR. (basically it is still the same AI system as in Beta2 and Armada2). We will improve this topic in future release and begin with the first steps in this direction for the v3 release.

About the Dominion: There is no Cardassian Avatar because the Cardassians betrayed the Dominion. Taking place after the Dominion war there shouldn't be an alliance between these forces. Cardassia is ruined and the Dominion has deep inner conflicts. More to be revealed within the FO storylines (if i ever find the time to out them together -.- ). The Cardassians will still be seen in future releases, of course ;)

No, and for a variety of reasons:


Sovy: I'd rather use my Eraudi yard to build own-all remores.

Descent: It looks like the contents of a spaceborne port-o-potty

Galaxy: It may be free and quick, but it gets torn to pieces by Rheinn Torp refits, Dominion Bombers, and the ever-popular Chargh class. Oh, and it cant be massed.

Phalanx: Credit cost means that it cant be massed, and obnoxiously long build time ties up the shipyard, which means fewer own-all remores.

It happend to my Galaxy. And I've done it to a few, too. Gotta love kamakaze bugs :P


Now, for Optec:

Yep, we "saved" many units for later avatars or features. The Nova Class and the famous Shadow Class are of course among them wink.gif

Well, one could argue that the Sovy, Akira, Steamrunner and Sabre are all designed with combat in mind, per se, as well as the Achilles seen in Dominion War. I'm sure there are others, but I'm not in the mood to comb the web for them.

AI has never used the bugs kamikaze attack on me at all. guess it just doesn't like you lol.
the steamrunner & saber are more patrol ships, not actual combat ships (small difference i know but still). the akira was origonally a test-bed for advanced weapons, only really built because of the borg & tensions with the cardassians.

other think they are crap.

well at least the "graphical" part of the star fleet command warpin process will get redone someday (warping them in through a solid factory does ot look soo good) maybe there will also be some balance changes. we will see B)

You were talking about the Sabre, well I think I might have prefered the vanilla Armada II Sabres that didn't have quite so long a phaser range but were given photon torpedoes, well that's just me. Another that bothers me is the venture class; its main weapon is a pulsephaser, and the whole point of that technology is it has the ability to pack more punch than the equivalent size phaser array, so i think either it should be changed to a regular phaser (like it is in Insurrection) or should be increased in power to something like the Sabre's phaser (it would still be shorter range and maybe a little slower firing), well, there's just an idea.

Yea, pulsephasers are no longer the weaker weapons they were in A1 & A2... I think that it should be changed to canon phasers.

Keep in mind the Klingon AI plays TaQ'roja, a Duras supporter. Since Duras are dishonoured, they don't have access to the resources the rest of the Empire has, so they have to rely on smaller ships and craftly artillery manuvers. Her advantages, avatar ships, and tactics thus reflect this. If the AI played as Martok, i bet you'd find it using much more "Klingoney" in-your-face strategies and the bigger ships like the Negh'Var more often.

It does in the right situations. Against smaller ships the BoP's rule, but against anything bigger you'll find the K'tinga the greater asset, as its disruptor has 100% hit chance against everything. Therefore, the BoP's are more suited for hunting operations and clearing the sky of critters, while the K'tinga is better for direct attacks and escorting larger ships. Just like the canon really.


As for general ship p0wnage problems, don't forget FO is called Fleet Operations for a reason. No more relying on one uber-class to win the day, you need variety in this game. Galaxy getting p0wned by bugs? Send a Defiant in escort, then watch your force smash those bugs like...well...bugs! :lol:
