I was wondering if you guys were going to cut back on certain beautification components on FO so that it would work better on older machines. For example, a Pentium III with 256 RAM, 64Mb Video card could run the regular A2 without any lag, on the other hand, When running Fleet Ops, you need 2 Ghz, 768 or so RAM, and a Radeon 9600 or so, for optimal performance.
So I was wondering if it was possible to decrease certain qualities of Fleet Operations, -nothing critical- like the starfields, glow effects, or at least make more video settings options, since All FO has is graphics quality, resolution, and texture resolution in the launcher menu.
Thank you for exploring this possibility.

Or you could just upgrade your computer, sicne if you cant run fleetops you defently wont be able to run anything that just came out or hasnt been released yet and that is a real shame.

Hmm.. My friend has a 9600XT, which is pretty much high-end, and he cant run FO in all its glory. I have a 9550 with 128MB memory, and I need to tune some things down.
Im thinking of Half Life 2, for example, where it was compatible with older mahchines, My friend could run it on a Radeon 7000 with 64Mb memory.
I am wondering if there are any redundant graphical components that take up unnecesary graphics memory and could be cut back.

ahh, i do belive that a2 has no desent LOD system or one at all in wich the further away an object is from you the lower the texture or even model reducing the strain on the computer. and there is no way you could run half at full on a 7000... besides a 9600XT is overkill for FO, try looking at Ram, 512mb-1gb.

I have a hell of alot more problems running HL2 then FO, even with the graphix turns down on it. If you can't run FO as well as HL2 then there is something very wrong.

Hmm, I would agreen that HL2 is alot harder to run on low level equipent even on low graphical quality. I have a radeon 9600 and i can run FO no problem but I cant turn HL2 up all the way.

u gotta be kiddin on this one.. a high end card of ATI would be the x800 series.. the 9600 series is a low budged cardseries like the 9200.. i got a 9800pro and i had to pay 179€ for it.. and thats medium card class series..
your video card is okay for most stuff in low or medium details n stuff of the newer ones.(that card is slow as f*** from this yrs point of view, but its okay for the price)..
so it is more some like 'u need more or faster ram - faster cpu - faster hdd'-sorta like problem.
so pls gimme your system specs.
mainboard: manufacturer? what type?
cpu: which socket? which core? how much mhz/ghz?
ram: how much / speed?
hdd: manufacturer? how much rotations per minute? 5400? 7200? how much space left on it?
cause maybe theres somthin wrong with the config of yo system. and i got some lil knowledge of such kinda stuff.. .oO( like some of the others here as well i guess )

yea its still used, but its not 'high end equipment'. that series sucks ass specially when it comes to filtering things... u can get a card for 150$ that can beat it in everything

P4 and GeForce 3 ... the graphics card seems much to weak for that processor.
I have a PIII 933MHz with a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 and they work very well together.
I believe you should get a new graphics card. Doesn't need to be a very new one, as your system isn't either, but it will definately be helpful.

I want to get a new graphics card in mine but i dont want to spend the money on an agp card right now, since i can still run the games i want to and the newer ones if i keep the AA off or to low, since if i get an agp card ill be buying a pci express one in like a couple years anyway when i upgrade my mobo and processer.
