* A button or hotkey that makes all ships in a fleet go at the same speed, and a button on the fleet screen that shows wheather this is active or not.  I know you can press control, but itd be easier if there was a light telling you that it was working and what speed the fleet is traveling at.

* A way to organize ships into fleets, i guess my thinking on this could be a few different ways:

The first way would be preset formations, with preset organization things, so it organizes by size, or by strength or by, weapon range.

The second way to do this, and ill try to describe it as i have it clearly envisioned in my head, is you select your formation, lets just make it a sqaure panel, and then maybe the bar showing the fleet, puts all the ships into a sqaure, and then you can place where you want certain ships to go in that sqaure.

Both of these options would allow for greater fleet control.

*Another Idea i have is so you got a ship right, and its life support and engines are down, and you have 45 crew left, and you can take a ship to go stabilize it, now normally, youd be screwed the crew would try to fix the weapons and life support at the same time, but what if you could click on the ship, and it would divert all repair to life support? So now you have 5 crew left, who can then repair the engines and go get recrewd.  This could be very helpful for many situations, diverting all power to repair somthing, so maybe take your shields offline to repair your engines, etc. etc.

*another idea, could it be possible to a ship with damaged subsystems to like maybe make the lights flicker?

*what about making the transporter a subsytem?

thats all i can think of for now

For the first one, just hold down control when issuing move orders.

I like this:

That would be really useful.

You've got my vote for the repair priotiries idea for sure.  :borg:

Making transporters (or cloak) as another subystem is currently impossible, but the devs are at the very least looking into making cloak another subsystem.

Damage effects are on todo

More formations are planned eventually.

I don't like the idea of repair priorities as it doesn't make much sense in terms of Star Trek or realism (some engineers are capable of fixing one subsystem, others of another - but too many cooks spoils the broth) and it would be easily exploitable: if every subsystem was down, all you'd have to do is fix life support, then engines, then go to the repair dock. Not to mention nastier problems involving keeping a subsystem from breaking (like weapons) at the cost of other subsystems when in a tough fight. I also just don't think it's possible, as the rates of repair are defined by the odf, and there isn't any switcheability. Who knows if it could be made possible though  ^-^

What do people think of my ideas for fleets, as that was basically my main idea, and the one i like the most.

To me repair priorities is realistic, if your on a cruise ship and the pool and the engines go out, there gonna fix the engines before the pool, divert all power and resources to that

Doesn't the repairtime simulate priorities? Repairing much faster shows their focused mainly on that.

yeah, exactely, i mean in star trek when theres gonna be a warp core breach you dont see picard saying:

now geordi, while your working on the warp core, id like you to take a look at my bath, the waters been a tad bit cold lately

hes like geordi fix the effing warp core or where dead

The game already has the life support repair 4 times as fast as the other systems, though it's the only one that repairs at a different speed.

Doesn't the system value also influence repair rates? Borg ships repair subsystems much more quickly across the board - as do support vessels  ^-^ .

I would love to hear red aleart, or someone yelling all hands man your battle stations, 2 if a ship was damaged, a picture at the left hand corner would pop up and show you the interior of the ship, the area hit and showimg crews going to reapair it. 3 would love to hear "WE ARE THE BORG". 4 I think it would be cool to hear each ship's captain say "USS AMBASSADOR STANDING BY".5" FIRE PHASERS" JUST A FEW OF MY THOUGHTS.

a lack of formations is a killer really, you only got 3 to work with and the only one that has any use is the sheet formation, wall formation would far more useful.

Definitely not a killer, if you micromanage your ships correctly, you don't need formation buttons, the default group movement, coupled with the control button, is adequate enough.

If you correctly number your fleets too, and keep them small enough, you have much more maneuverability.

Not that I'm opposed to more buttons, however I only think wall formation would be suitable if the z-axis were partially manipulatable again. Otherwise getting ships on top of ships is just luck of the draw when they bump into each other.

1) that would get really annoying in a large battle

2) i dont like that idea if it was an option i would turn it off.

3) i think the cube already says that

4) i'm gonna assume you were joking with this point. not all ships are the ambassador. i think legacy has that feature

5) i dont even understand this sentence fragment

the wall formation is tactically the best option open besides sphere formation, with wall formation all the ships fire in one go instead of the standard sheet formation where you loose alot of ships before you attack. separating the ships by their speed and class is not viable, i wouldnt build 20 odd sabers, group them and send em into a fortified expansion, they would all be destroyed before the defenses go down not to mention a waste of resources.

speaking of formations, ship speeds are completely different and most ships dont remain in formation until they reach their destination, what is the point in a formation when half your fleet has been destroyed and the rest become stragglers? stock A2 had a good system in use, once in a formation, the ships always remained in formation at the speed of the slowest ship in that formation.

what is sphere formation? and why is it better than wall.
