Firing from Out of Range

ok now that's out of the way, this sounds like an interesting idea. but i do see possible balance problems but Mal had a good save for that with that weapon exchange idea

Atlantis came up with the idea, I'm just getting the credit. Not that I'm complaining. 
But that's why the forums are great, because we can take an idea that might not quite work and collaborate to make it something awesome. Right now I'm trying to think of the best delivery system. I'm kind of thinking the new synergy system would be cool. So using the feds as an example, if there is a remore near an excelsior, that excelsior may have a chance for increased weapons range for a few seconds.
Or even the Dominon's c-11 is near a bunch of bugs, then the bugs get increased range for a few seconds.
I'm just thinking off the top of my head, so I'm not really suggesting these specific examples, but just using them to get the idea across. If it's just a synergy effect, perhaps there wouldn't need to be any loss of accuracy, because the amount of time that a ship can fire at a longer range would be controlled for.

May be a combined ability simmiular to a power transfer, ping cloaked units(sensor boost) and the Domion style weapond focus. Where the Sensors are sharpened so weaponds get a better lock and the weaponds system are charged to 120% of the normal operating specs. It would cost X special energy and have x cool down period each time used. Each race could refit 2 ships with this weaponds boost module.It would add a bit to the game play , but would not over power the tide of battle . If the refitted ships are destroyed, the ability has a 5 minute count down timer till the feature becomes available again.

What if it was replaced with that and given something else?

an interesting idea, make that special a passive. i wouldnt want it on such a cheap spammable ship. maybe if a c11 could only boost 2 ships range, cos it hasnt got enough sensors for a whole fleet. that way you'd need more than 1 c11.

Yep, all of the synergy passives have a ship limit. This one should too.

Actually I think the first step would be to make the C-11 range boost work. It currently does nothing.

i just did a free tech test on that and it seemed to be true, can anyone else confirm this bug?

hay, the canav is now an ok ship if u wanna counter short range enemies. ec3m is now available from the start so it gets a good defence. and it deals impressive damage to short range ships.
