Yep, that's right. There are also performance issues with the above method.

We are working on a better solution that is reasonable regarding both workload and performance and we are confident to get something running someday :) its just a matter of time, like picard would say

Oh certainly, if a "simple" fix like a texture swap (like the way ships are Borgyfied) or a damage model swap (i.e switching the 3d model to one with damaged engines etc) can be coded then certainly i'd love to see it. I was merely commenting that the current way we can butcher the engine into doing what we want is very long winded and system intensive. I do know that the FleetOps team has a habit of pulling off the highly improbably/impossible though, so I wait to be amazed  :lol:

Also, it would be a nice feature if you could see a field of ruins after a large space battle. Parts of the saucer sections, nacelles, wings, cargo container, escape pods or even extrem damaged ships.

These wreckage fields are used only for the optic. They should not interfere in the game.
